Paul Dunbar vs PRP

Featured Replies

You guys are right about the personnel. Just young and right now, not good QB play. They just have to keep improving each week against a tough schedule. But if you are 4A, you should be playing a tough schedule. Run the ball well, mix in a successful pass, and play good defense. That will be the Dawgs philosophy this year. Son of Bear is right. Those were very good athletes from MC last week.

Traditionally I agree...but they are under new leadership now...Coach Wolfe is a heck of a Coach and made quite an impact in the district last year...Which is WITHOUT A DOUBT the toughest in the state. PRP started a ton of sophs last year, so with another year under Wolfe I expect them to be even better.
I like Wolfe, I like his scheme, and I like PRP's speed. But I don't know that you can say that they made a big impact in the district last year. They didn't really have a good, complete game agaisnt the other three district title contenders last year (Good first half against X, but shut out in the second half; tough rally against Male in the second after a pretty bad first half; and a more even but losing effort to Manual with a 28-14 halftime deficit and a 42-28 final.)

I think that, contrary to the buzz last year, THIS is the year PRP has a chance to make noise in the district. But I don't think it's as assured as some others, because the Panthers still have some proving to do in my book.

Compared to the previous few years...last year was an impact. But I think PRP will be really good this year but next year they will be even better with all of this years JR's being SR's and in his system for 3 years.

I saw the Dunbar-MBA game and also saw LexCath scrimmage PRP. PRP has a better passing attack, but I can't see them pounding it up the middle successfuly against the excellent PLD D-line. I also can't see PLD scoring more then a couple Tds against PRP. It should be a competitive game and close enough to give the home team the edge.

Dont believe PRP runs a "pounding it up the middle" offense.

The basic offensive scheme may not be designed for "pounding it up the middle", but with BIG Ardis in the backfield, you have certainly have the ability to do it when it is needed. :D

Normally PRP attacked the perimeter of the defense with Rocket sweeps. With the return of a couple players, they should be able to attack the line between the tackles. I have not seen them this year yet but would expect some traps and dives to keep the defenses honest.

I will say that I probably expected to see more from them in their first two games, a 30-13 win at Lincoln County and a 36-6 win against Doss. Both scores were actually widened in the later stages of the game. Not knocking the prospects of them being major contenders in the district but I look at it like last season maybe they crept up on Male nearly beating them and they gained a lot of respect by playing them that way. I know they also played St. X very close and had opportunities to beat them as well. The power of confidence and the teenage psyche is very strange. My thoughts are that maybe they had a little intimidation factor working for them and this season they will not creep up on anyone (as they have been thrown in the middle of the district title race).

With all due respect to the Dunbar program, they have not played up to expectations this season yet and maybe this is the week to do it. I think the ride from Lexington will take a toll on the legs and focus. PRP should control the football and the game and I see a score of 28-7 PRP being the result.

Agree.

Didn't mean to imply they did. Very varied attack with a good passer and receivers. Number 40 was very effective running up the middle though and kept Catholic from focusing on the passing game. Dunbar should be able to take this away.

Just heard that PRP's leading rusher J. Smith will NOT be playing Fri. night. He has to be out of town for a family reasons. This could def change the dynamics of this game. Also, PRP's QB has been sick all week and hasnt practiced at all.

Please don't tell me this now, Gus. I've already made my contest picks.

Panthers still have Josh Deacon and Ardis. Will still be a good test for the Dawgs.

No Big deal Ram. I went to Iroquois and followed their teams until my son went to Male, and of course I still pull for the Raiders. When they play Male...well its my kid. PRP played both X and the Dawgs tough last year and from sources I've talked to they will be a handful. I like their running game and look forward to this Friday to get a good feel for their team.

Dawgs have had a good week of practice. Hopefully, no more fumbles. Even if those players are out for PRP, they are still a load. Dunbar's starting backfield still sidelined. Greene could see some action on D and Corey Williams had his knee scoped last week. There was a calcium deposit in there from his ACL surgery last year. That is why he could not straighten his knee to 0 degrees. I think this will be a dandy ballgame for all to see. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate.

Even with late scratches from their depth chart, I still think PRP takes this one.

Speaking of people being out of games, I heard that T's QB isnt playing friday . Something about breaking team and school rules again?
