Good opportunity for Mustangs to learn what to work on from here on out.

Aiken is very good this year. I'm sure that Brossart will learn from it and it will be helpful as the season goes on.

That is a heck of an improvement for Aiken from last year's game against Brossart. This score surprises me.

I attended this one, I have mutual friends that coach on both teams. Aiken is fast, physical and they have some depth.

 

Brossart defensively was in position to make tackles, but either dived at guys feet or didn't wrap up. Their angles were rough.

 

With that said, who is Brossart's QB? He moved around well

Aiken extremely quick with a big offensive live to open holes, once they got into our secondary it became an adventure.

 

Mustangs actually led 7-6 mid-first period, and scored first in the third quarter, BUT too much athleticism for our overworked defense tonight.

Coach Pflug is doing good things at Aiken!! From everything I hear they are supposed to be pretty solid this year. Brossart can learn from this and bounce back! I expect them to do so!

Brossart won't fast a team even half as fast or athletic as last night for rest of regular season. No problem to bounce back with ease.

Their District is well let's just say not good, so the plan would be to win the district (which they probably will) and get a bye and then find a way to somehow overcome the Raceland/Paintsville/Fairview matchup in round 2. After that waters get real deep.

While we really appreciate the respect being shown, I think Nicholas County might take exception with your crowning our Mustangs the district champions, here on week two of our season. The Bluejackets feel that we might have dodged a big bullet from them in Alexandria a year ago, and are probably anxious to even the score when we travel to Carlisle on September 23rd. Paris may have lost a bit to graduation but will pose a similar, highly athletic offensive attack as seen from Aiken, and Bracken County thinks that they can contend, having not lost a senior to graduation from last year's team.

 

The bottom line is that there is a LOT of football to be played before district determinations will be made. We will have to stay healthy and improve on some our early season shortcomings before thinking of being district champions. We will take them one at a time and this week focus on Bellevue, another Class 1-A Northern Kentucky independent opponent who will invade Bob Miller Stadium next Friday night for a 7pm contest.

Of course the games must be played on the field but the District is possibly weaker overall than last year when Paris and Brossart were better than this year. Nicholas County is of course a threat with the ground control game but may have to throw it with some success to win the district and certainly if they want to make a playoff run.
