I don't care how many schools are in Boone co. I am talking about KY's philosophy vs other states. Take sports out of any decision (which is what school districts do) and then decide on how they should build schools.

Yes and no. You have 4 6A schools in Boone County and most of them even with 70+ players in the team still can't platoon because the number of varsity quality players aren't there yet.

 

You can have 100 players or 40 players and if the majority just aren't good enough you can still have 8 players going both ways.

I would agree that the birds got beat by a better team....they beat themselves Friday night. If the disciplined team that played Cooper would have showed up, GAME OVER!

Cooper could say the exact same thing about last weeks game. If the team

that showed up last night played last week, GAME OVER.

Getting beat by Cooper, Ryle and SK should show a decline in the birds program over the last year or so. Getting beat by the Camels should be a dose of reality. Not trying to put the Camels down but they have been the birds whipping boys for decades. This program is not even close to the elite level they used be. If you don't believe that you have blinders on. I honestly believe Dixie and Cov Cath will beat this team. It will be interesting to see if they can bounce back after 5 straight losses.

 

No one has claimed them to be elite. In fact, I have (and many others) said numerous times starting two years ago that HHS would be lean for two years. But nose dive??? Not buying that. Back to normal status for a couple years? Sure! Look, we have been playing football for over a hundred years. We've seen plenty of lean years and HHS always seems to bounce back. If this is a nose dive, I'll take it!!

This team, like last year's team, will be a blast to watch develop. I love these years beacuse I like seeing the boys challenged in each game rather than starters being in street clothes in the second half. They will play hard, they will get better and they will be fine when they see teams in their division. It funny how a team is labeled "nose dive" when the finally start losing to teams twice their size! Lol! I agree. Not normal for the Birds. But nose dive??? Lol!!!

A couple of seasons not beating teams by 50 and loosing to teams that the guys that came before you beat shows two things. One. Your program is experiencing a "down" year or two.

Two. The teams around you are finally starting to catch up in talent. Both of which could change at any time. I love when you read people saying that their team winning signifies a total collapse of highlands program. Really how much faith do you have in your team. I read that as "we aren't that good and still won, highlands must be terrible". A last second field goal is not going to change anything. 10 years from now people will see that CC beat highlands twice in 25 years (can you hear the air coming out of the sail?). Give me a break. You would think the Super Bowl was last night.

I agree here. I don't like excuses. There's been plenty of years where the flags don't fly their way and it never mattered.

 

HHS can't get away with that these last couple years. So if you know that, don't get penalties. Every call can't be a bad call! Fix the penalties if you don't want to see the flags fly. Control what you can control.

With that said, I really hope for the sake of the kids on this years team the dads can hold it together in here unlike many of the dads of last years team who had more

infighting and finger pointing and coach blaming than I've ever seen in here from HHS fans.

 

I have to admit it was pretty entertaining to watch but it was also at times pretty nasty. I really felt for the coaching staff last year. It got to the point several dads were calling for the JV team to start varsity etc. but again it did get funny and entertaining to watch too lol.

Here we go again. Geez people. What were the positives you saw from the 2016 Birds and Camels? How about the negatives? I'll start by saying that Highlands' Trent Johnson (sophomore guard) is an impressive young man and has a very bright future. I love that kid's toughness. Finfrock is a man child on the OL. Ethan Kremer of Campbell County played his butt off last night and was the Camels' defensive MVP, in my opinion. The kid showed up big multiple times. Alex Dowds arrived last night. That kid hammered opposing tacklers. Not only can he run over you, he can run by you.

Congrats to the Camels! Enjoy your victory over the weekend, then it's time to get focused on NCC.

I skipped a couple of pages in the middle, so I didn't see the pile on.

We need more posts like this. Praise for the players. A good recap of some of the things that happened in the game. No need to dwell on last weeks game or last years game. They were covered previously.

I remember people calling for Mueller's head in 2006. There will always be Boobirds. Losing to Campbell County makes it hard to blame them.

The way this game was lost, your 'program defining win' is like finding a trophy whitetail mount at a flea market and hanging it on your wall.
