I was thinking about the post where it was mentioned that something like 8000 houses are planned in Boone Co? That's a lot of students. If they allowed those new students to be absorbed into the existing schools that would make them all really big. Of course that's not the best for the students I guess.

and Ryle more than anything. Boone will very rarely be competitive anymore because they are land locked and are in an area that will not have any growth. The only way Boone will have a chance will

be due to redistricting. That is their only hope and if and when they do that then they will be pulling students from the other schools. Boone unfortunately is fighting a losing battle.

Penny pinches won't allow schools to be built big enough to house that many students. I guess they think it is cheaper to build 8 different buildings 6 miles apart?

Here is the problem. It isn't the schools fault or the planning. It is the states regulations that have caused the mess. When a new school is built they are only allowed to build the school to fit the current student body that will be attending the school when it opens. The state will not allow funding for schools based on future growth of the current school district.

That is why you see many new schools having to use trailers as classrooms shortly after the schools open until they can add additions to the Existing buildings.

 

Anyone who is familiar with Erpenbeck when that school first opened saw this first hand in only the 2nd year it was open. They had trailers being used then and the reason was they were not allowed to build taking into account future growth.

Doesn't matter really who is playing in the game. If you are up on teams by 4TDs and continue to score, whatever players are doing the scoring, it is running the score up.

 

I'm not saying not to do it, I'm just pointing out the fact that it has happened again and again then don't be upset at how fans from other teams react when they finally beat that team who has run the score up in them year in and year out.

 

Mothers is a way to stop running the scores up. Just letting you know.

 

Sorry HB. I have to strongly disagree with you on that one. If the second team is in, the only thing I would object to would be trick plays, going for it on 4th down and things like that. If your team is a passing team, I have no problem passing the ball some either. Beyond that if it is second team versus the opponent's first team, it is never running up the score if the second team is putting up points.

Leave it to the state to put a limit on something that no one can accurately predict. Spend 40 million on a building that will hold 1200 student when another 5 million will allow you to hold another 300 kids. Nope we will spend another 40 million.

Again, I didn't say I have a problem with it. I was just pointing out that when a team does pile the points up on teams year in and year out then they shouldn't be upset at other teams fans for getting satisfaction out of finally beating that team.

As an aside, I think it would be really cool to have most of our NKY 6A teams get to the point where they all had really strong programs. No reason it can't happen. Lot's of good coaching and support in those schools.

 

THIS!!! I would love this and agree there is no reason it shouldn't happen. I think it's starting to. Some of these teams were just not good teams not too many years ago. And even though some have made faster strides than others, I think they are all on the upswing. I would love to see a powerhouse NKy football where every week is a challenge between all the 5 and 6a schools. And I would want it not to be because we are all bad, but because now everyone is considered good and NKy turns into a "hotbed" for football. There is no reason we can't get there and shouldn't be there already. How fun would that be??

I'd love that to happen too. I just don't think it will ever happen, at least in Boone county due to having the 4 public schools in such close proximity of each other which waters down the pool of athletes for each school.

 

I really wish there were only 2 big HS's in the county. But that isn't the case. Could you imagine if just Cooper

never existed, what kind of teams Ryle would have had over the past 9 years? Just this year alone, how fun would it be to watch Morgan and Hendrix on the same team? Wow. That would be fun to watch.

That's what I don't get either. In other states, they build so they can add on. But it's all under one administration and name. It's almost like they build modules instead of separate schools when enrollment goes up. I could definitely see some efficiencies with that, not having to have overlap in resources, facilities and maintenance. It I'm sure there are pros and cons and KY feels it's better to do it the way they do.

Give the CC kids the credit for taking advantage of the opportunities presented to them last night. They did what it took to win the game. At the same time, it needs to be pointed out that the game was lost because of mental mistakes, loss of concentration and on some plays a lack of self discipline. Hopefully films will point this out and players will learn from their mistakes. Still time to have a good season for these Birds!

It may be with a bigger school that little Johnny might not get as much playing time because of other kids who are a little better but it opens up the possibility of platooning more players, bringing in better players to start with, and increased competition among the players themselves just for spots. How many players are being recruited from Trinity this year and how many from Ludlow. No offense to Ludlow I'm sure their program is in great shaper but I needed a small school to make a point
