Police Officers Denied Service at Louisville Taco Bell

Featured Replies

Ummm, because it's a published news story and not really difficult to understand ?

Because, regardless of how I may feel about law enforcement issues in America, refusing service based on any condition other than a personal safety / hygiene issue is discrimination?

Because an hour and half away has nothing to do with a reaction to a news report ?

Because I'm able to think for myself ?

Because the business has investigated and made a determination that the employees were wrong, hence the "retraining" ?

It's not that tough. Incident occurred, police reported, news reported, employer reported and now everyone can have an opinion....

What does distance have to do with anything ?

Just because it's in your back yard doesn't give you exclusivity on having an opinion does it ?

Aren't you high and mighty? Ummmm...the decison to retrain the employee tells me that the initial account was "enhanced". Likely the employee could have handled whatever the situation was better, but the encounter didn't go down EXACTLY as originally recounted. If an investigation happened and it had, I feel confident the employee would have been fired. But employees have rights as well.

So you think the police officers made this up and are lying?

I think the FOP spokes person has been "inciteful" in the past and has a way with keeping the kernel of truth, and building around that to suit his purposes.

What makes you think that their opinion overrides the opinions of those who see this for what it is ?

I don't really want to get into this because I agree that this was a foolish thing for those employees to do and there's nothing cool about disrespecting cops, a group a have lots of personal contact with and whom I truly respect and appreciate. It just seems to me like this has been handled to the satisfaction of all the parties involved and I don't understand why further sanctions would be in order except to satisfy the internet's blood lust over recent issues of law enforcement's interactions with the community.

No, I'm not high and mighty, I'm a realist.

If the story was "enhanced", then why retrain them at all, why acknowledge, why not come out and blast the police officers for making up the story ? Why ? Because they did it and the offended officers were gracious enough to not want them fired.

Your beef is with the local FOP because of whatever your experience has been. I get it, it is reflected in my posts about local law enforcement in my community.

Employees have rights, true. They also work at the leisure of their employers and if there was nothing to this story I feel confident there wouldn't have been a story....

Clearly you do not believe the police accounts of this story....I'll give you that it could be "enhanced", but I have no basis for that....do you ?

I don't disagree in principal. I do believe that with the Yum HQ within spitting distance that they don't want a national scene either, so they are riding this one out and hoping for it to go away....

I don't know if justice was done or not. I do know that people have been fired for a lot less speculation than this story brings.

My beef isn't with anyone. I do have basis for evaluating customer service issues though. And I have read letters from this spokes person. And I watched him in a panel discussion with community leaders and Chief Conran on the matter of racial issues in Louisville.

Your opinion is just that...your opinion. I don't think your distanced oponion based upon experiences in a different community make them more valid of a basis that my experience in my community, and in the industry.

As to why retrain, retraining is not out of the ordinary on customer service. There is literally no end to the moments that one can learn from when dealing with customers. Literally ..no end. There should always be retraining.

Listen, I get it. For some of you the police are never are at fault for anything. Some of you may have never had a negative experience with a police officer. I haven't had one in the sense that I've been wrongly treated at a traffic stop or such. But, I have as a person trying to do my job. At one of the Starbucks that I worked, cops would come in and demand free coffee. We werent supposed to do that. Policy is all drinks had to be rung in and either settled with payment, or use a partner # who must be on shift to close out the transaction. Often, a new batista would say they couldn't do free coffee. Then there would be a complaint lodged, and we'd have to address it. We old timers often gave up our free shift drinks so we could keep the cops happy, but not get in trouble.

In the end, it rally doesn't matter. Because everyone is always ready to believe the worst of whomever was behind the 8 ball in getting their story told. It's easy to draw a line and have good guys and bad guys. It's messy wheb you deal with reality.

I'm sure they have incentive to lie about some kid at Taco Bell. :ohbrother:

I didn't make it such....you made distance be the issue. It's not a distance issue.

The results are already published, so not a lot to debate. Everyone owned their share of the issue.

I'm sure they have incentive to lie about some kid at Taco Bell. :ohbrother:

I thinks something happened. I don't think it was exactly as described.

Yet you feel retraining is a lackluster response. You've decided ebough wasn't done. You are here arguing that point.

Of course not. Cops always lie or embellish the truth.

If anyone is going to boycott we need to add KFC and Pizza Hut to the list.

I rarely eat at any of those places but put me with a couple of others, if they keep those employees any Yum owned business will be a last resort only for me.
