Chance Moore leaving Eastern and going to Fern Creek is a major transfer that I think is over looked.

Trace Young may be the best player in the state and enrolling at North Hardin will make them a top team in the state.

Devon Cooper is probably a top 10 player in the state and he will at least make Wagganer relevant.

I'm shocked that there has not been any major transfers in the 2nd region, particularly in the 8th district.

I didn't include Sloan because of the rumors that he may not be eligible. I no zero about it and hope he is eligible. I feel Trace playing at Huntington Prep gave him experience that no one else in the state has except Devon Cooper.

Who do you guys think is the best player in the state? I think Hollingsworth is the best scorer but not the best player and Sloan is really good, he and Tray Hollowell are my top 2 contenders along with Trace Young.

Not even close IMO... Tavin Lovan is the best, then Tony Jackson, followed by Hollingsworth. When evaluating, I factor in who they have playing around them on their respective teams....Also, Lovan has had a few injuries that have hurt this past couple seasons.

I forgot all about Lovan. Tony Jackson is really good but he's not in my top 5.

1. Tavin Lovan

2. Tray Hollowell

3. David Sloan

4. Trace Young

5. Taveion Hollingsworth

6. Tony Jackson

That's probably my top 6.

District 8 hasn't had any transfers but the admin at one of the high schools turned over and they told the coach they didn't want any more trips to Frankfort for eligibility hearings. Suddenly, no transfers.

Sloan to Ballard is a big deal just because of who he is, no doubt he is one of the best in the state. But I would have to go with the transfer Moore from Eastern to Fern Creek. They were already a very good team and adding him puts them in Rupp land for sure if they can gel together.

I heard yesterday that Fern Creek also got in an out of state transfer who is a 7 footer:eek:. Maybe those closer to the program can tell us if that is true or not. For the sake of everybody else, I hope not:isurrender:

Tavin Lovan is a good HS player on a mediocre HS team. I'm not sure he will be much of a college player. He can't shoot and won't be able to thrive in college without a jumpshot. He may be best suited as a lockdown defender at the next level.

Chance Moore may actually make Fern Creek worse. He's not a big fan of sharing the basketball or the spotlight. That team had really good chemistry. If Chance can buy in to the culture at FC, he could put them over the top.

May be spot on with the Moore assessment. The coach at Eastern didn't seem very broken up when Chance left the program. Fern Creek had chemistry issues last year, and with the clock ticking on some of these hyped up kids that were supposed to become stars, they could have more of a "gotta get mine" mentality this season. Fern Creek is really one of those teams that could make a deep run at Rupp, or get bounced in the first round of regionals.

Not a big name but Kel Stotts coming back to Adair County makes them one of the top teams in the 5th region. Stotts is one of the best shooters in the state.

Agreed. Kel Stotts is a big deal in the 5th. It may not make state wide news but most 5th region folks recognize it.

As for Fern Creek; the hype was too early for them. This year they will be able to show what they can do. Not only Price and Moore, Clint and Tony and the rest of that group will be formidable this year. They were just anointed a little too early.
