May be spot on with the Moore assessment. The coach at Eastern didn't seem very broken up when Chance left the program. Fern Creek had chemistry issues last year, and with the clock ticking on some of these hyped up kids that were supposed to become stars, they could have more of a "gotta get mine" mentality this season. Fern Creek is really one of those teams that could make a deep run at Rupp, or get bounced in the first round of regionals.

 

Not going to dispute anything said, but most of it is hearsay regarding chemistry, get mine mentality, and Moore being a potential disruption as mentioned in other posts too. I would bet that the FC coach is thrilled to have him and opposing 6th region coaches would rather not have him there. FC went through some tough times last year with a high profile player leaving mid season, adjusting to a key mid-season injury, and having young players continue to mature. This season being young can no longer be an excuse. Junior guards Wales & Price have started since they were freshmen and the rest of their youth has experience to go along with high scoring potential of Moore. I see any perceived chemistry issues as being behind them and the sharing of the scoring should benefit from the ability of PG Wales to get everyone involved which he has proven he is capable of. Moore will be the leading scorer, and Price & Rogers will also be scoring threats. The key is do they buy in to defending and that will determine a deep run or a potential flame out early.

I'm curious to see if adding Gunnar Gillis to Mercer County, has an impact on that team. I know he will for football, but I'm not sure about hoops yet??

Tavin Lovan is a good HS player on a mediocre HS team. I'm not sure he will be much of a college player. He can't shoot and won't be able to thrive in college without a jumpshot. He may be best suited as a lockdown defender at the next level.

 

Chance Moore may actually make Fern Creek worse. He's not a big fan of sharing the basketball or the spotlight. That team had really good chemistry. If Chance can buy in to the culture at FC, he could put them over the top.

His excellent shooting was showcased by going 0-1 from 3 for the EYBL season last year. 17 EYBL games. 1 three point attempt. Unless of course the EYBL stats were wrong.

 

You obviously don't know much about basketball if you're basing a kid's potential off of dunks. There are great dunkers at every level of college basketball. Tavin is a nice player and would be great somewhere like Kentucky Wesleyan for 4 years. I just am not taking him ahead of kids like Jaylen Sebree, Pedro Bradshaw, Peyton Broughton and David Sloan.

 

Tavin can have all the highlight dunks you want but eventually he's going to have to make a jump shot in college.

I think his attitude and the reflection of what was posted above has seemed to change over the summer. I have always been a fan of Moore's game, but didn't like how he carried himself at times. Watching him this summer, I saw a much more mature attitude and he was very efficient in his scoring and shot selection. I think Fern Creek is getting a better version of then when he was at Eastern. GoHard hit the nail on the head, they will be able to score with anyone in the state, how hard they choose to play "D" is how far they choose travel during tournament time. And if they don't play it, it wont be because of the coach.
