If you dont think that the Mason Co. fieldhouse has atmosphere you need to come to the Regional Tournament. If youre coming to the finals, come early because I promise it'll be packed early.

Campbell County Middle School is the best gym in NKY IMO.

I agree with this. The Fieldhouse has more energy and atmosphere than any gym in the state come March.

Try it and I think you'll like it!! The 10th region tourney with 6000-7000 people is something to see!!:thumb:

Don't stretch things BG,you know the fire marshall won't let that many people in there.

I would have to say Ryle. Great facilities, great parking, good food, spacious, pretty new, an okay shooting gym, so yeah Ryle.

 

But if NKY extends to Mason County, then it's definitely The Fieldhouse.

The one bad thing about Holmes is the location of concessions. Also, I don't understand why they don't use the old ticket booths and entrances to the gym.

Yes I've been to both and since CCMS has become a MS they have redone the bleachers and it doesn't quite hold as much but it's all purple and gold. A great place to watch. I also have always loved to shoot there and the court has bounce.

Also, I feel like the walls on the baseline are a little closer to the baseline itself than in most gyms; however, it's not nearly as bad as HHS or HC.

If you are going to throw Mason Co. in the mix, then I will cast my vote for Gallatin Co. The only gym that even rates with Gallatin in the 9th is Ryle.

The worst is Highlands or Holy Cross. If you've ever been in either locker room (when you're not the home team), you'll know why. Simon Kenton always had awful lighting, so that deserves a mention. Hopefully they have fixed that blue tint by now.

 

FWIW, I love games at Holy Cross & HHS - that is, if you can get in the door.

 

 

SK has new lighting as of '04, very good lighting now, no more yellowish/green tent.

What about all the upgrades that took place at Dixie Heights thats a very nice facility now....My all time favorite would have to be Holmes

The atmosphere at the Fieldhouse is amazing when it's packed. I don't think you'll find a better place for a region final.

 

Also if you ever get the chance to witness an Augusta/Bracken County game, esp. at Augusta, take that chance. Augusta's little old (1926) gym, recently renovated, when full is as loud and crazy as anyplace you could go. The balconies on either side allow fans to be right on top of the action unlike any of the new larger gyms. If anyone on here has played or coached there in front of a packed house they know what I'm talking about.

What about Scheben Gym at Lloyd High School? Plenty of seating, good concessions, good parking, good floor.

Facility wise I think that I would have to go with Ryle. As a player Holmes was by far the best place to play a game. Good floor and feel of a "Big Time" arena with the height of the ceiling and stands extending well above floor level. CovCath has the best atmosphere.

 

I would also give a big thumbs up to the changes at Dixie. New lobby, fresh paint and new lighting have done wonders.

 

Worst by far, as player and fan is Highlands followed closely by Holy Cross.
