August 19, 201610 yr Obviously I am not being clear. The argument is often made here that Media wants to stir the violence. It's an argument with valid points to support. My post was noting that in this case, CNN edited out the inflammatory rhetoric. Therefore this is a poor example of the premise touted in my first sentence.

Or maybe they don't want the folks in the suburbs of Milwaukee to see it coming. I trust Isis almost as much as I trust the media :lol2:
August 19, 201610 yr I get very tired of hearing all the bologna about the media. The media is vastly more reactive than proactive. Yes they will hype a story and a headline to attract viewers and hits to their website but they are not creating stories. I know there is zero chance of the statement above changing the minds of people who feel differently. However, I don't want their statements to go unchallenged either.

I think it was you who questioned me on my media thoughts in other threads. With what has came out over the last 3 or 4 weeks and you still don't see any issues you never will. My point as always been, if your a "journalist" report the news, tell the truth. If you can't do that then your NOT a journalist. We have big chunks of media who are NOT journalist, these news outlets continue to feed Americans the slant they want you to digest.
August 19, 201610 yr Of course they did. They dont want the violence where they live. CNN is based in the Milwaukee suburbs?

I agree with you on that. I agree with most of your post. Where we probably disagree is I don't consider CNN a media outlet trying to slant news. The majority of NEWS outlets are not trying to feed you what they want. They are feeding you what they think you want to read. They are looking for hits to their website. They are looking for more readers/viewers. Their agenda is reporting news and focus on the news that will increase their circulation. Journalism has certainly taken a step back in today's news and media but it isn't because of promoting an agenda. As to media bias, I think there are as many right slanted media outlets today as there are left slanted.

The naritive of the sister telling the crowd to take their anger to suburbs doesn't fit the naritive that certain outlets want to show when covering inner city violence. The things cut from the video/audio tapes would be down right scary.

August 21, 201610 yr CNN slants as bad as any now. Especially in this election season even more. It's so obvious. I must be tuning in at the wrong time. CNN seems pretty balanced to me. I believe viewer bias impacts people's opinions on the various media outlets as much as what the media actually does.
