If this is true, then there should be some other names involved with this. I know several years ago, there was a softball coach at GRC that did some things and I thought the school system put in some safeguards to make sure nothing like that ever happened again.

Yeah, he's gone. Informed parent/Booster told me new coach will be named within the next 24-48 hours.

Josh Cook played one season of basketball at Alice Lloyd College before going into coaching at June Buchanan. He was an assistant for four seasons and the head coach for one season, posting an 18-10 record during the 2008-09 campaign.He then took jobs as an assistant at Knott County Central and Montgomery County before being named head coach at Lawrence County in 2012. He posted a 41-22 record in two seasons there before heading to Mercer County in 2014. The Titans were 23-9 in his first season.

On a serious note...Do Head Coaches get to handle the finances for their team? I just figured they had a totally separate person in charge of taking care of the money to avoid just such rumors.

New redbook requirements limit coaches being in charge of finances. Coaches raise money through approved fundraising and are trusted to follow procedures in turning monies in to the schools book keeper. Coaches cannot just right checks out of school funds without approval from an administrator. Lots of ways a coach can mishandle money knowingly and unknowingly

Don't know what happened but as so many have said, given the timing, this can't be a good thing for CC or Coach Humphrey.

Everything I heard is indeed a mess. Sounds like Humph needs to get some help.

Given he won three regional titles, it couldn't be lack of success. His won-loss record is fine. Is this another Notre Dame Academy volleyball drama, where parents control the coaching seat?

In a lot of schools, it's a struggle to even get a head coach in some sports, let alone an assistant, and boosters for certain sport programs are almost nonexistent.

I am an old timer, but in my day we signed contracts prior to July 1 that bound both coach and school for the year. No unilateral flexibility existed after that time. The school could release the coach upon request; however it would get pretty uncomfortable should they not agree. The school could fire for cause, which was way past the time for previous season's team performance to be considered for cause. Has something changed that would allow a coach to unilaterally walk on his contract to take the Clark job this late? Or, would one assume his current school would release him? Thoughts?
