AverageJoesGym Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 CINCINNATI (LEX 18) - An African-American police officer with the Cincinnati Police Department is facing some backlash for a controversial Facebook post. According to our sister station WLWT in Cincinnati, Officer Freddie Vincent wrote a message on his Facebook page with suggestions to African-Americans about how they should handle encounters with police while pulled over. Officer Vincent wrote the post because he believes some officers are "looking for a reason to kill a black man," according to WLWT. Soon after, an investigation was launched by the Cincinnati Police Department. The officer says he proud to be a member of the department and he did not intend to cause disharmony, WLWT reports. Officer Vincent says the post was just a message about "right and wrong," the station reports. There is no word of what could happen to Officer Vincent when the investigation is completed. Read the full quote below taken from WLWT's website: "Yep it has made worldwide news now... A message to all my Afro America friends and family. When you are encountered by a white police officer make sure that you are in a public place, and comply to all of their commands, because they are looking for a reason to kill a black man. And always keep your hands in the air, and never resist. I'm so tired of cops using these famous words 'I was in fear of my life.' I'm praying for Louisiana that could have been my nephew in B.R." jericho Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Uh he should be fired. I've seen and read how so many of you on here defend being fired over Facebook post.
00Rocket28 Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I wonder if he's ever filed an internal complaint about this. Either way he's painted a bullseye on the backs of his fellow CPD officers. I'd be interested to hear the viewpoints of other minority CPD officers.
jericho Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 He labeled all the white cops as wanting to kill blacks. I don't think any cop gets into the profession to kill a black person or wakes up in the morning hoping to kill a black person. I doubt many cops want to ever have to shoot their gun.
All In Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Uh he should be fired. I've seen and read how so many of you on here defend being fired over Facebook post. Fired without pay and never wear a uniform in any city ever again. Hit the unemployment line
Jumper_Dad Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 As a sworn Law Enforcement Officer he should name names of those looking for a reason to shoot blacks. He should be the star witness in a far reaching internal affairs investigation. If found to be true, those officers named need to be out of law enforcement...if he's found to be just making this up as an attention grab, then he should apologize face to face to every officer in that department.

Good post. If this is true let's clean house, if not he has some explaining to do.

Fear the Nation Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Does he deserve to be fired if it's True? Can he go to his superiors and say hey I think some officers want to kill blacks if given the chance? How do you prove that? Another question is if the feds get a hold of this and want to investigate his claims is he protected under the whistle blower act? If he's lying, shame on him, he gets what's coming. But if it's true, it takes a lot of courage to out fellow blue. This needs to happen more often. There are indecent and corrupt officers out there. The good officers need to clean out their ranks to restore public trust.

If this guy is chirping just cause it's his opinion with no backing, we don't need more of that. All it does is put more officers lives in danger.
ThrillVille Cardinal51 Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I'm sure he's just making it up. I'm more interested in whether he is referring to the recent events or the Cincinnati police department.
jericho Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Isn't he guilty of stereotyping? How about racial profiling? Should that get you fired.
Run To State Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I'm sure he's just making it up. I don't know if he is or isn't, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and wait to see if he's correct. If he is, action should be taken against the offending officers. If he's lying, action should be taken against him.
