The mothers of Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown will be speaking.

 

I can understand Martin's mom and maybe even Garner's mom...but having Brown's mom doesn't make sense other than to rile up people again based on the false narrative, that was his case.

I just watched the clip of Warren on Colbert and it sounds like she is in full-on attack mode. I think that's really dumb. She'll be speaking Monday along with Sanders. Maybe neither of them are very willing to say much in Clinton's favor so they've been relegated to the Monday time-slot and told to keep it on Trump.

Will we be hearing much about Clinton and her personal story and beliefs, or the will the Democrat Convention be a full on attack on Trump?

I think this coming week the Democrats need to paint a positive picture of America. They need to talk about the good things that have happened in the last 8 years and how things can continue to get better. That should be their message this week.

 

Create a stark contrast to the Armageddon America that was talked about this past week. Hillary is not going to win over any gloom and doom voters. Trump has all those voters in his hip pocket. She needs to paint a positive image and try to repair her terrible approval ratings first.

I don't agree that she needs to portray herself as Obama II and endorse every single thing. In fact I think that would work against her because people are upset with Washington. If I were her I would position the dysfunction in Washington on Republicans controlling both houses and say look what Obama accomplished despite the odds against him. But I also would pick areas that play to this election that are different than what Obama stood for so she can differentiate herself in a few critical ways.

Right or wrong, the sitting administration is going to be blamed for the violence in the streets, the lack of controlling it, and feeling from many nationally that they aren't safe, etc. In fact, I believe the more there are Cop on Black shootings that are leading the news, and the more there are Cops gunned down by people of any color, the harder it will be for HRC to get elected -- dare I say, those horrible events continuing probably create Trump's best (only) shot at winning in November.

It depends on how they present it IMO. If they're screaming lunatics that cops are killers etc that will do harm. If they present it logically as in "This is a concern and needs to be looked into more to see IF there is a legitimate problem because the numbers are alarming" THEN I think you get the undecideds to think "Sounds fair and rational."

 

Or if they simply come across as mothers who lost a child and say HRC/Democrats/whomever are really trying to help them in this process that will help.

Just got my text from Hillary. It's Kaine.

When it comes to the mothers of the slain boys/men, I think the best case scenario would be for them to say that, while there are issue and concerns that need addressing when it comes to the black perception of police, violence against police does absolutely nothing to solve any problem and instead results in other families losing sons, husbands and fathers. Of course, that won't do anything to keep the crazies from being crazy, but it would show that isn't the response that is needed.
