I just need to hear specifics and details on how all this free stuff is going to work. Maybe as the week goes on they will give us specifics.

The jump all the way to $15 per hour seems like too much to me. I believe a $12 minimum wage number is reasonable and necessary.

True. Of course everyone is supposed to get a quality education, graduate high school, go to college, graduate from college, get married and get the nice 4 bedroom house in the real pretty neighborhood but that funny thing called "life" doesn't always work for everyone the same way.

I thought Booker's speech was good. I liked that it was positive/optimistic.

Warren lives in 3 million dollar pad and wants to lecture me ( us) about equality . Then claims shes part Indian . The lady lives in fantasy lib land , thats why no one liked her speech .

It doesn't make much sense for the Democrats right now. Considering how negative the Republican convention was it would have been a stark contrast to have a more upbeat and hopeful convention (Booker and M. Obama did that to a degree).

 

I'm guessing their idea was to stamp out the Bernie fire by reminding those supporters who the alternative to Clinton is. Even still, there's a sober, serious case to be made against Trump and Warren could have done it, but her attempts were far too snarky and comedic. I also think she could have given a much better speech by bolstering or justifying the platform. She shoehorned some of that in there, but the whole thing came off as disjointed and uninspiring.

The $15 minimum wage will not happen, but if it does, it will be bad for jobs. What about all the jobs now paying say from $12-18 per hour. These people will expect a serious bump in pay as well.

 

Just wait till December when the new overtime rules hit.

Agreed. That's why I think the $12 minimum wage is more in line with where it should be based on inflation over the years

The bigger issue is the disappearance of what used to be middle-income jobs due to moving manufacturing to foreign countries, plus loss of jobs due to automation, robotics, illegal hiring practices and the Internet.

Correct so now those people are forced into the service economy which doesn't pay as well.

I read that quite a few people went online to take exception to Mrs Obama's comment about living in a house built by slaves. Weren't most things built by slaves back then?
