July 17, 201610 yr Satanic? You're having to explain yourself to me more and more, lol Sounded like you were praying, maybe expecting the worst.:thumb:
July 17, 201610 yr Louisville mayor Greg Fischer recently said that coupling officers in a patrol car wouldn't affect coverage to the residents of Louisville. I suppose some are gullible enough to believe that! It may or may not, it depends on how they go about doing that. I could see certain areas and hours of the day where it would be advantageous to have two officers per car. It would likely cost the department more money to do it right and not change average response times, but I'm afraid it's getting to the point where that may be the only option.
July 17, 201610 yr No but it's going to happen. At least in area's where they've got a more credible threat, talking more heavily populated, urban areas. Officers get killed out here in the sticks too...most of the times without any credible threat. Problem is there aren't always enough officers to double up. Louisville Metro has 19.0 officers per 10,000 of population and Lexington has 18.1. Lexington and Louisville are among the lowest number of officers to population ratios in the country when looking at the top 100 cities in population. Baton Rouge has 738 or 32.2per 10K of Population. To reach the same ratio of officers to population our local Sheriffs Department would have around 90 Sworn Officers...they have 29 for a ration of around 6 officers per 10,000 of population. 29 that along with a few Troopers cover the third largest county by size in the state. The local City Police Department is around the same ratio as Lexington, but have around a quarter of the population to cover that the Sheriff's office does. This same scenario is repeated in non metro departments all across the country as those officers are spread much thinner than officers are in urban areas. I'm not saying one is safer or more dangerous just the opposite...both are tough and dangerous, with the biggest difference being that back up is either 1 minute or less away or 10 to 15 minutes away.
July 17, 201610 yr I thought the President had a decent speech. One he needed to give long ago. Agree, President was on point today.
July 17, 201610 yr Most that I see such in Cincy are one per car, but as has been pointed out, more and more when I see blue lights flashing I see at least two cars. To me, the two cars with one LEO each working together is the safest way to go now, and that will back up the response time a lot more. I see two per car here in Ashland occasionally, even more often in Huntington. As for Ashland I believe most of the time those are trainees, however in Huntington there are certain areas where they do run two officers per car. I agree that two cars with one LEO per car backing up the other would also work, as long as they aren't just following each other around all day long, if that's the case it's just a waste of a car.
July 17, 201610 yr No race descriptions have been reported yet. Not shocked. I guarantee though had a white coo shot a black person the race would have already been reported as soon as it happened.

That's how most departments try to operate...I know the local city police here always try to send a 2nd unit to back up the 1st on all traffic stops. They each patrol separately, but one will break off and go back up other when they make a stop.

Rarely ever do you see less than two cars anytime an officer has to get out and make contact with someone. I think that idea works great for most cities, as in general there are several units within a minute or so of each other. Personally I think two officers per car would also work well in areas that receive large amounts of calls for police response. It would essentially do the same thing, without tying up another car.
July 17, 201610 yr bill quigley @bqnola Baton Rouge. Witness says police not targeted but arrived in scene of shootout between regular people w assault weapons 12:17 PM - 17 Jul 2016 Sounds like this has been debunked
July 17, 201610 yr Yes, every loss of life is a tragedy, yes there are some out there specifically targeting LEO's, but the statistics don't show an increase is LEO deaths/murders. BUT, that's not saying that we shouldn't work hard to get these numbers down as far as possible. Just where are you seeing these "statistics"? And if you're simply comparing them to other years, which years? Technology has increased the likely hood of surving a gun shot, changes from revolvers to semi auto in LE,Etc. Why don't you look at a more accurate number to tell the full story, like perhaps felonious assaults on police officers or how many have been shot or shot at and survived.
July 17, 201610 yr The Sterling family came out very strongly urging no more killings. I believe it was Sterling's wife or mother, emotionally calling for no more killings. Said she knows how the phone calls to the families of those officers go and wants no more of those calls to happen. She told people like the perp to stay out of Baton Rouge. She said this is our house and we don't want outsiders coming into Baton Rouge thinking they are going to help solve problems by killing more people. I am paraphrasing but that is the gist of her emotional plea.
July 17, 201610 yr Cops will understandably become hesitant to respond to calls from some neighborhoods. Wait until it begins happening, the Leftists will lose it! Obama will likely call it "Police acting stupidly", Hillary will call in her BLM team coordinators, Sharpton and Jackson may kill one another running toward the closest Television camera.
