The twig and berries, man. I don't know how you guys walk around with that stuff.

Sorry you asked, right?!?

Cat always has her mind in the gutter...hardware...porn in Habibistan...

Get Mr. Cat to take care of you so you can think about something else!!!!

The answer will always be black.

So you'd prefer to be a cop?

Black people can grow up to be a famous solider like Colin Powell, a famous golfer like Tiger Woods, or they can even be the President of the United States. Sorry Tupac, you were wrong. Black people have unlimited potential.

Police work... It isn't worth $20 an hour it would take $40 an hour for me to even look at application.

I enjoy my job most days and feel like I may a decent living, but if a 9-5 that paid the same came along, I'd be tempted :lol2:

My best friends department just changed to one year rotations. Meaning, at some point he will be on third shift for one year.

Ours is 6 months and it's based on seniority. I was on nights for like 2 1/2 years straight when I first started. I miss the work, but not the hours.

I sincerely thank you for what you do. It is a calling. There is no way it is worth it financially. The satisfaction has to come elsewhere.

The only thing I can say is that one can choose to start and stop being a police officer anytime that they wish.....

It is, I get to do a lot of Community Oriented stuff which is nice. I'm a training officer so I enjoy seeing my guys do well, and I conversely enjoy helping weed out the bad apples. I'm an instructor in a few disciplines as well, so I enjoy teaching too. I'm lucky to be in a community where law enforcement is appreciated by most.

So humorous to read comments from white men pretend like they understand the black man's experience.

It is no different than anyone who is not a cop pretending to understand that perspective.

Shoot, no two of us, even in the same demographics can really understand the other.

I couldn't answer this question. I'd say it it could go either way, depending on the situation.

I like who I am and where I'm at. This question is a First Take question.

Reminds me of a story I've probably told before.

1979, my first job at the CMHC was as a substance abuse counselor at a halfway house in the greater Rectorville metropolitan area, close to Lewis County. First time payday fell on a Wednesday, a couple of us newbies asked the supervisor where we could cash our checks, since the banks in Maysville were closed.

He said that he went to a bank in Tollesboro. One of my fellow counselors, a black man named Elmer, said, "If I go there, I'll be the only black man in Lewis County", which wasn't too far from the truth. Supervisor said, "Well, when I go there, I'm just about the only Catholic in the county".

To which Elmer replied, "Yeah, but you can pretend you Baptist".

So humorous to read comments from white men pretend like they understand the black man's experience.

Easy to comment and down play peoples responses, any opinion of your own on the matter? Also, how do you know who is who on here? I think you are reaching assuming everyone is white making comments.
