Was there a gun or not?

I dont think they have released they information. They removed something from his pocket and the call was apparently he was threatening someone with a gun.

Are you suggesting the owner would not have turned over the tape if he trusted the cops ?

I think the owner is worried about police tampering with the video footage so the owner wanted to give the video directly to the FBI.

Which officer shot? Closest to the camera? I still can't tell. Partly b/c I don't want to watch it over and over.

A homeless man called 911. He apparently approached the guy looking for money, and the guy showed him his gun. If the neighborhood is as bad as described, I can understand why he would do so. Such a tragic incident.

Yet he was forbidden from having a gun based on previous convictions. Probably thought he could intimidate homeless man and it backfired on him.

Probably why he fought with police, he knew once gun was found he was probably facing prison.

Talked to a friend of mine last night in BR. The more localized story is that this guy, a known offender to the police, was selling stolen vids in front of the store and was confronted...he threatened one dude with a gun and when approached by another to leave, pistol whipped the second, so the public called the police at that point and backed off...

When the police arrived, they had that information and a victim still on the premises from the pistol whipping.

Friend says that not only is this part of town bad, that the police don't like to go down this stretch in tandem...so I would think they were highly alert to a situation like this. Also says the "organized protesting" has already begun and the outsiders have infiltrated the area stirring it up.

I would guess that one of the two Head Reverends would be onsite prior to the weekend to get their mugs on the TV....

No disagreement from me. However, unless he went for his/or a cop's firearm, none of that warrants him being shot IMO. The video is unclear as to whether he reached for anything or not. That's the telling piece of evidence, and we don't know the answer to it yet.

Everyone looking for the answer or definitive narrative to come from one of the videos remember this...

Before you expect body cameras, dash cams, and cell phone video to be the definitive proof that an incident is justified or not, remember that collegiate and professional officials still miss calls with replay review and thirty angles of the same play. Sometimes, a person is just in a position to see something a camera cannot.

Short for, the cop won't be charged.

No, short for YouTube video won't always tell the entire story.

Example: You are wrestling a guy and are laying on top of him. A camera from the right side won't show what either of you are doing with your hands on the other side, but you can see his other hand and he can see yours. You two can see much more than a phone.

There is a good video that makes its way around the Internet that shows what you describe. You've probably seen it.

Shows an officer involved shooting from two angles. One looks like the officer executed a man for no reason. Second shows the man raising/pointing a gun at police before being shot.

I was referring to the "Sometimes, a person is just in a position to see something a camera cannot." portion of the quote... Of course one or even two videos wont always show what happened, but that statement is setting up for "we saw something that none of the cameras did."

While I haven't looked into the details Louisiana has some sort of "Blue Lives Matter" law in place now I've seen some folks complaining about. A KY rep is trying to propose the same thing.
