Saw this on the news last night and the video was more clear...the story is apparently that the guy was tased first and continued to resist, but then was shot multiple times in the upper chest and abdomen area.

I do not take a position on this situation either way, but it does appear to be questionable. Things you can't see:

Where are the subjects hands ? Did he or was he reaching for the second officer's gun ?

I also have to wonder if the officer shooting thought he had his taser rather than his service weapon ?

That would seem to be part of the problem with making the tasers so similar to a service weapon IMO.

I was not aware of the taser.

Your questions are all valid. Having a gun in and of itself does not warrant being shot. If he was reaching for the gun then he made the wrong move.

I haven't had the time yet to see exactly why the police were called in the first place. The store owner says he always lets the guy sell in front of his store. I read there was some sort of "disturbance" but I'm not sure what that was.

I get the knee jerk reaction but we need to see what we can find out. Sadly, the body cam was "not working" at the time. That will only add to the skepticism.

What you can see on the video looks pretty bad. Wish there was a more complete angle

When the guy in red falls to the ground, he initially reaches for something, cant tell what.

I was not aware of the taser.

Call was supposedly that man selling CDs had threatened someone with a gun.

Aunt said he is on probation and isn't allowed to have a gun.

Wow ok that changes things a lot IMO. Specifically depending on what he is on probation for.

What does it change ? It still boils down to the question of was he reaching/did he grab his gun?

Store owner says the police pulled the gun out of his pocket after they shot him.

It changes how its handled going into it. If you have a guy,who is on probation, for lets say an offense involving a weapon, and you're told the suspect has a weapon, it changes your initial response.

Did the initial officer rush the suspect because he was trying to flee, the suspect looks like he is back pedaling but its hard to see.

Gothca. Agreed on initial response.

In a press conference this morning BRPD Lt would not confirm one way or the other that a weapon was found on deceased but did say that surveillance video would prove whether the 911 caller was correct or not.
