Seems like the same rule would apply in principle that allowed me to vote in the 1988 primary at 17. I turned 18 a few months later, but before the general election.

Why am I know hearing that Trump's wife is now a possibility? I was at the hospital this morning and in the waiting room they had on Fox, and it was Fox who was talking about it. They can't be serious can they?

I would think that if Trump were to actually pick either his wife or his daughter even the most hardcore on the right would abandon ship. It'd be abundantly clear that he isn't serious about this whole President thing.

It appears that not very many Republicans serious about a political future beyond this presidential campaign are interested in being his VP.

 

He keeps saying so many goofy and unnecessary comments in his speeches and interviews. Why would he want to mention a psychopath like Saddam Hussein yesterday as a "good terrorist killer". Maybe he was, but he was even better at killing non-terrorist. He says so many things that he doesn't need to say, only to give MSNBC and others an opportunity to use clips and sound bites that would make Saturday Night Live proud.

He shoots himself in the foot everyday. He can't seem to get out of his owns way.

I have voted in every presidential race since 1972 but I may just skip this one. It's a shame we don't have better choices than Trump or Hillary.

Times sure have changed. Wasn't too long ago that Newt was the poster boy for in-your-face Republicanism.

 

When he came up with the Republican Contract with America and swept a lot of Dems out of Congress and then began to implement the contract just as he promised, he was the poster boy for Republicans. He actually pulled off some real conservative things and reigned in then-President Clinton causing him to begin acting more like a Republican. Newt fell out of favor when he stopped acting as a conservative and had his own moral scandal. These things use to matter to conservatives (they never mattered to Dems hence Bill Clinton's popularity went up after he was impeached). Newt is a smart guy. Some of his ideas are good. But his problem is he is of the past and his past is sullied.

If Trump would name Ryan as his running mate (Ryan has said he is not interested) I think a lot of Republicans would be energized. But how would those two occupy the same Whitehouse?

If true I guess he is trying to solidify the far right. Can't see this helping him with independents or Hillary hating Dems.

If I were betting considering how far right the platform is going, I would say Pence is a shoe in, and that does nothing to pull moderates.
