Darden was the biggest "Hey, we have a black friend" example in history. Probably would have been famous for the "right" reasons if he didn't make OJ try on the glove.

 

Let's just call it what it is. The prosecution was bad on an epic level and the LAPD got exposed for being the LAPD. 1+1= a murderer getting set free...

I feel like I could listen to Carl E. Douglas tell stories all day. Really enjoy the way that he delivers his points.

 

I think OJ's agent, Mike Gilbert was great in this as well.

I'm not saying the LAPD didn't do things they shouldn't have back then, because they did...but it was never proven that they did anything wrong in this case. The defense brought up that they (LAPD) might have done "this or that" or "Could" have planted evidence, but never showed one time where they actually planted any evidence in this case.

 

I understand the verdict, but with a stronger willed judge this case could have went differently. As Marsha Clark said, Judge Ito let the prosecution get away with things that had never been seen in a trial before.

I believe he resigned right after the OJ case and went to work as a professor. He eventually left law school and started his own private law firm which I think is still around today. He has written some books and has made numerous tv appearances. Not sure if he is active in his law firm or not though.

He didn't like black people and always wanted to be considered white is what I read. So I think its safe to say he said that.

The prosecution was shockingly bad.

Systemic racism isn't nonsense. In a judicial landscape that requires proof beyond reasonable doubt, the LAPD failed miserably.

 

That's the point of the entire series. OJ did it. The LAPD was so miserable at doing their job that he got off. They regularly planted evidence to get convictions, and it is well documented.

 

I am certain OJ killed Nicole and Ron. I'm also certain he should have been acquitted given how the case played out. American Justice...

 

so you are saying there was not enough proof for them to convict?

Couldn't find a thread on this. Amazing documentary. It's more like three or four documentaries wrapped into one but they intertwine so well. The interviews the director gets are absolutely amazing.

I learned quite a bit from the documentary, I really enjoyed the series. I really didn't know much about the Miami years, he sure acted like a fool. Anyone else think the exit music and picture of OJ was reminiscent of "Making a Murder"?

Finished last night. I want more.

 

Definitely came away with the impression that poor Marcia Clark got railroaded. Prosecutors definitely got handed a case with a low probability of success. LAPD was less than perfect. Fuhrman was a complete disaster. The guy in the second chair was clearly not prepared for that stage.

 

I wish I could remember the name of the UME pastor who pointed out what I've always thought to be true about this case: the story of the trial was that there are two separate justice systems for white and black people; what the trial showed is that there really are two justice systems: one for the rich and one for everyone else.

 

If he'd been broke, no one would have poured over hours and hours of videotape of the crime scene to find one moment of a forensic specialist handling evidence with his bare hands. If he'd been broke, nobody would've been pouring through the archives to find Mark Fuhrman's complaints.

 

Like Chris Rock once said: if he was just driving a bus for a living, he wouldn't even be OJ; he'd be "Orenthal the Bus Driver Murderer."
