Listening to Nicole on those 911 calls infuriated me. I kept thinking if that was my daughter and he was terrifying her like that I would kill him with my own bare hands.

 

I also looked up some pretty graphic photos of the murder scene and he almost cut Nicole's head off, he was clearly enraged.

 

The infuriating part is the fact that the police had been there so many times on DV calls yet he was never arrested.

That's what is funny, in a sad way. Those few that actually believe OJ was innocent and that the LAPD set him up are over looking all of the times the LAPD could/should have arrested him in the past.

 

In today's age, OJ would have been arrested and fired from Hertz, ABC and every other job he had for beating Nicole...back then DV was something that celebrities just seemed to always get away with.

From the staging of his home with photos of OJ and white friends and fans being replaced with photos with other blacks that OJ had never seen, changing the art work in his home and using the race card against the LAPD.

I'd argue that had it not been for years of racial strife in LA plus the Rodney King incident being so fresh in the minds of blacks that OJ would have been convicted. This wasn't a judgement ON OJ. It was a judgment AGAINST LAPD and the entire prosecution made that easier.

This came out in the FX series as well about adjusting the decor of OJ's house. Seems like that should be some kind of ethical violation. Ito cost the prosecution this case as much as the other factors.

For those old enough to remember the actual trial did the public see the detailed pictures of Nicole and Ron that we saw in this series? That was rough to see. It's one thing to hear about how bad they were but to see up-close holes in their neck was just stunning.

Exactly. I thought Bomani said it best when he tweeted that watching the series made him more sure that OJ did it, and that he should have been acquitted. The defense flat out ran circles around the prosecution from start to finish. Biggest route in American history...

I thought the documentary was very good. I thought the prior racial issues in LA got too much air time but was necessary to show how the jurors failed to ignore facts and acquit OJ. The thing that still gets me to this day is how Johnny Cochran fed loads of garbage to the jury and played the race card brilliantly on several occasions to shift focus away from incriminating evidence that had nothing to do with race. They bought everything he sold and I still have no idea why.

The new star coming out of this documentary is undoubtedly Carl Douglas.

 

Makes me wonder how much he would have been featured if Cochran and Shapiro were still alive.

To ESPN's credit, they showed probably the same pictures in the documentary. Tough pictures to see.

I still have to finish about half of the last episode but a few things that really stood out to me that I don't believe have been mentioned:

 

1) It's crazy to me that he was able to make over $3 million while sitting in jail during the trial signing autographs.

 

2) Cochran playing the Hitler card. Had I been more than 9 during the trial, I might have already known that, but that was news to me. I thought the defense was pretty brilliant from what I could tell, but that drastically crosses the line to get shock value. Although it probably worked.

 

3) I can't blame the jury at all for wanting to be done with that trial. 266 nights (or something like that) of isolation is a long time.

Paraphrasing Stephen A. Smith, but with the makeup of the jury and previous racial injustices (coupled with Furhman), all the defense had to do is appeal to the senses of the mostly African American jury.

 

The documentary could only devote so much time to the trial, but it is shocking how much evidence The Juice had against him. Like an overwhelming amount. He basically went into trial with Ron and Nicole's blood on his clothes with no alibi and got off scot-free.

I'm still more shocked about the Korean lady getting probation and community service for killing the teen who was walking out of her store than I am about OJ getting off.
