When the Dream Team documentary came out Scottie Pippen admitted that he and MJ told Team USA that they wouldn't play for the Dream Team if they added Isiah Thomas to the team. What did Team USA do? They did the right thing and didn't invite Isiah to the team. When it all went down the media refused to report this story in 1992. They danced around it so much it was insulting. We had to wait until 2014 to get the real story because MJ's image could not be damaged for anyone or anything. MJ was money. Pure and point blank. Big money. The cash cow was free to do whatever he wanted. MJ was a lot better than Isaiah at that point seemed like they did the right thing.

Well, except for that out of wedlock baby he had with one of his side chicks that he had to pay for. So again what did MJ do that broke NBA rules ?
June 3, 201610 yr It isn't a secret how much the media protected and shielded MJ during his career. You want to talk conspiracy theories the biggest conspiracy the NBA has ever been complicit in is the canonization of Michael Jordan. The man was photographed in an Atlantic City casino in the early early morning when his team was playing the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. His gambling exploits during the Dream Team's time in the Olympics is legendary. They said the man never slept. He would leave practice, go gamble on the golf course until the sun went down, then hit the casino and then host private games with other Dream Team players for high stakes until 5 in the morning. After that he would go see his trainer and get ready for the next game. This is is all documented and isn't a secret. Google is your friend. NBA TV already has shown multiple shows detailing this. One was the Dream Team documentary. Would he have been better if he got enough rest or do you think that would have somehow hindered his game?
June 3, 201610 yr MJ was a lot better than Isaiah at that point seemed like they did the right thing. Isiah deserved a spot on that team if Larry Bird was on it. Larry was being wheeled around in a wheelchair at that time and Magic wasn't even in the NBA. For MJ and Pippen to say they wouldn't play if Isiah was on the team shows it wasn't the right thing to do for those reasons. It was politics that kept Isiah off the team. Not his performance. June 3, 201610 yr So again what did MJ do that broke NBA rules ? Back then image was everything. Because of image we never saw the real MJ until his Hall of Fame speech. He always said and did the right thing because he was the NBA's cash cow. It was always said that his gambling had gotten out of hand and to this day people swear his father was murdered because of his gambling debts and folks were worried it would get exposed and put a black eye on the league having their star player in bed with the mafia. As a result MJ says he is retiring OUT OF NOWEHERE to chase his childhood dream and the whole narrative changes from him giving the league a black eye to whether or not he will make the majors since he is so good at basketball. It's still amazing no one questions this.

I'm not sure but I do remember Charles Barkley being the best player during the 1992 Olympics. The amazing thing was that he loved this crazy lifestyle and was still supremely better than everyone else.
June 3, 201610 yr So again what did MJ do that broke NBA rules ? It seems everyone can admit he was a big gambler correct? So even though they may not have had exact rules against it. With as big of an ego he has and how much he likes to gamble. You would have to assume it was pretty realistic to think he may have gambled on his own games correct? Now with Pete Rose in baseball having his gambling thing go public just a few years earlier. Don't you think that if the NBA found out that he was gambling on his own games they were better off trying to hide it than admit it? It's not like they could just brush it off and say stop doing that please, because what person would stop doing that without a consequence. The NBA knew they had to try to do something while at the same time not hurting their star player or the Leagues image. So let's set him up with the Bulls owners minor league team. This may not ever get to be proven true unless someone speaks. However this conspiracy very well could be true. Just like even though LeBron is a gifted freak athletically I do think he has taken steroids in his career. But do you think the league would ever call him out on it? Not all. The NBA protects all their star players.
