Why would you start with the Revolution? That was not begun by Liberals, who are all for taxing, confiscation and government control. It was begun by Patriots who were tired of being taxed and controlled by a domineering and oppressive government. The Liberals of that day were called Loyalists.

Please review the 1964 Democratic Convention. Humphrey demanded that Civil Rights be a plank and LBJ concurred. The use of blanket terms does injury to the truth of history. Wallace, Thurmmond and other Dems were staunch segregationists and very conservative. Some left the Dem party because of their views.

 

It reminds me of this: what do Clinton, Falwell, Gore, Carter and Huckabee all have in common?

The wars of Scottish Independence, where Sir William Wallace helped lead the Scots to a victory over the English, thereby gaining their independence and freedom from English rule. That took place in the early 1300's. So please, tell me again how radical and unheard of Revolution and self governance were in 1776???

I would certainly say it isn't a conservative thought in 1775. The Age of Reason was hardly a fundamentalist influence.

I referenced Wallace only because many will recognize his name from the movie Braveheart, which depicted that revolution. I never said that the victory brought them to Democracy. I dont believe their goal was Democracy, it was to rid themselves of English rule. I also never stated that Revolution was purely Conservative, another poster gave credit to Liberals for the American Revolution and you backed them up.
