I am Not bitter at all. I sincerely believe NDA will be a better team. Now I didn't see chaos in the defense like you're saying but maybe I should watch film and I referenced riherds cause the numbers also show that not only were there missed opportunities due to forced shots, but there were players with better shooting percentages that were capable of scoring. But again, in mine and others opinions, it is a popularity contest. And HHS now has an interest so I understand your comments. However, it's just my opinion and to me an all around player is better than just an offensive player and in my opinion the coach wanted her to be the play maker. So I could see how you would think that if she was constantly pressured to make the play. I'm my opinion Miles was an all around player and seasoned. Do you feel Martin "carried" miles? I don't, then again Miles wasn't made promises to transfer. I'm not going to get into the particulars, but like I said, it was a popularity contest and still is. Too many coaches are in the high school-AAU loop together and that's just the way it is. Again, What all around player doesn't rebound or have solid defense. If there was so much chaos in the defense, why didn't NDA make it out of districts and lose in first round? That's all she was able to play was defense in districts if you recall. As I previously stated, NDA will be fine. Everyone lost players this past year. Good luck to her and Highlands.

 

Okay. One last thing. Is there a remote possibility that those "other players with a higher shooting percentage" got that higher percentage because they were open often with the defense focusing on Martin??? If you're shooting wide open shots because your defender peeled off to help on Martin, then I would expect higher percentages.

 

And would be saying the same thing about this kid regardless if she was coming to HHS, staying at ND or going somewhere else. She was one of the best players in the region last year. Ask ANY opposing coach. Their game plans were structured on how to slow her down.

I did read the entire thread. But I was responding to yours and still can't find any connection to those previous posts other than that they mentioned him coaching at one time. But that really doesn't tell me who you saw at the gym!

If think Highlands will give her the best chance at playing in the regional tournament, No more going through holy cross or holmes.

Regarding the insinuation of the Richie's being there to watch Martin play AAU. Nice try. Did you ever think that maybe they were there watching their kids play AAU. Because that's exactly what was happening. They have several young ones that play at a very high level. That's who they were there watching. Was Martin in the gym, sure...along with several other NKy kids that play AAU...including several Highlands kids. But you really want to try and connect them with Martin deciding to come to HHS. Wow! Have at it!

 

HHS and all the other NKy schools are waiting on a particular ruling before they break into AAU. For now, just observers.

 

I can assure you this and if you don't believe me you can ask anyone that knows her at all...Jaime Ritchie is the most purest coach and human being you will meet. She will not even come close to breaking rules and she most certainly doesn't let her husband! Lol! I coach at HHS. We are not allowed to talk about anything until the student is enrolled or has had conversations with the administration and we are given the green light to talk about our program or facilities. HHS is used to people trying to "catch" them because of the football program. They tell us when someone approaches you about coming to Highlands to politely say "I cannot speak to you about it. You must first speak with (about three different administrators)". That's what a coach will tell you. If they don't, they are breaking school policy.

 

Just because a coach isn't approaching the player doesn't mean that it isn't happening some other way. As for going to watch AAU games because you have players from your team playing that's fine but to go and watch and sit on a bench that doesn't have a single one playing on that particular team until now, seems a little strange don't you think, that's what ACourt&ADream is trying to say and I believe said that. Regardless "what's going on", a HHS coach did not approach or discuss anything about her coming to HHS with the parent or player. PERIOD! So speculate all you want, but there was no contact other than "I can't discuss that with you until you child is enrolled at our school". That's the facts!

 

As for sitting on the bench, I know what you're talking about there as well. Let's see, Martin plays for the NCC coach in the summer, correct? That team has several NKY players on it, correct? Doesn't the HHS coach and the NCC coach have a relationship and wouldn't a coach that coaches high school be interested in watching kids he knows (not just Martin) play against good AAU competition? I know when I'm at summer ball tournaments, I'll watch a kid or kids from other schools play. It doesn't mean I'm trying to recruit them! It means I enjoy watching other local kids play! There is an interest to see how they do. And can you tell me with 100% certainty that they weren't sitting between courts (watching two games) where one of them that was getting ready to start possibly had players from their program on it? I know this is true too because my daughter plays on the team they were there to watch! This is such a reach of an accusation. Coaches go to these things all the time and watch all kinds of games. Why isn't the rest of that NKY AAU team showing up at HHS then. I'm sure if they were they with intentions of getting players, there would be more than just Martin coming.

 

Let me tell you this...if HHS girls bball was even remotely thinking about recruiting players, there's not a program in NKY that could stay with them in that aspect. Think about it. A coach that was Gatorade player of the year, was a top recruit her senior year. Held the scoring record in KY for years. Has sent multiple kids to the next level. Has more connections with college coaches (who respect her tremendously) than any other NKY coach. Coaches at a school that is the best in KY for academics. Has a community that backs the school and it's athletics with a small town pride that is hard to match anywhere. And has a brother that coaches at Louisville! (you talk about transfers!) And you talk about connections!

 

She is respected and has all kinds of connections. And the school ain't too shabby. The rest of NKY better hope they never open up the doors to influencing kids to come to your school because, if the Ft Thomas schools could hold them, HHS would most likely become untouchable in girls bball in NKY. But the reason it's not now is because they don't do any of that! One kid in 10 years decides to come to HHS because of other issues at her old school and you want to say there is funny business going on. Whatever goes on outside of the coaching staff is not a reflection of the staff or school.

 

And I also know there are some at your school that are upset she didn't go to NCC. Is that what this is about? Cause don't think that wasn't going on either. Glass houses!

Carefull what you say regarding others!! Your knowledge is limited to HHS staff and outreach at Higher Institutions. There are others in NKY that are equally as accomplished and established contacts thruout the collegiate ranks of all divisions up and thru the WNBA. You might be surprised. Coach Jamie is an excellent Coach with a sound pedigree and connections .Coach Burt is equally as talented and has many reaches in the basketball community that is well respected. I do not know of one Coach or staff that has DISRESPECTED this Duo. So please keep it to the subject matter of the topic for those of us still bothering to read this thread!!

I didn't mention anyone else and this is on topic. It's my opinion that if they wanted to recruit (which is the insinuation here), they could do it better than anyone in NKY. You have your opinion and I have mine. Again, it's not just the coaches that would be taken into consideration, it's the academics and support system. It's also coaches that players like to play for!

WOW, what a plug for HHS the arrogance is unreal and you wonder why. I was simply telling you what A Court was saying boy did you go on a rampage. I never once said your unbelievable staff talked to her did I, but that doesn't mean they didn't talk to someone else and I do not mean Jamey. Guess if they open it up then all the schools would close down because HHS is so much better than everyone else in NKY, true colors really showing. Guess if the staff was that good and the talent that has walked through in just the last 6 plus years they would have a title, not saying their not any good but you make them out to be the elite of NKY. BTW this has nothing to do with Martin not going to NCC but nice try.
