It's not surprising at all the HRC is way behind in an election poll based in KY, especially on this site, which is decidedly conservative. Again, I'm not discounting Trump's ability to win like some others, but to think this poll is representative of the country as a hole, would be to say the least, flawed.

 

As of right now, I would likely vote for Hillary. However, I am strongly considering a vote for a third party. I am certain that I won't vote for Trump.

I'm afraid this election is going to send what was already base political discourse plummeting into the depths. We are past partisan or ideological disagreements, even those that are fierce or bitter, and into the ether of "us" versus "them." Evidence and reasoning and all the other tools of argumentation are increasingly useless when all that matters is whether you're for us or against us.

 

There have been plenty of remarks made about the demoralizing state of this forum, and many regulars have already voted with their feet by abstaining, yet looking at the poll results here it's no surprise why (and it's always had a strong rightward leaning here, but the tenor of it has changed altogether). The noxious combination of emboldened Trump supporters and the twenty-plus years of breeding Clinton paranoia is poisonous.

 

My only source of optimism is that this election will be tantrum that gets it out of society's collective system and we'll soon return to the normal back and forth. And God help us if we don't.

You are correct. The lines are clearly drawn. While I am not a big Trump guy, there is no alternative for me. The way I look at this the Supreme Court is at stake. Trump echoes what alot think and never say whether that is right or wrong. I have said this before here. Unless something changes our country will divide in the coming years.

More chance to nominate one that will the alternative. He knows whats at stake here. What chance do you think Hillary would appoint a conservative candidate? 0%. At least with Trump there is a chance, plus Trump has never been in any position to appoint. On the very platform he is running on a knowing his base, I find it very hard to believe he will betray them. He might and if he does then I guess I will label him as just like all the other politicians, Liars. Hillary is already there with that title.

Not an issue as there is no one running who can do that. Going to take a monster third party candidate at some point to get it done. I doubt if I'll be around to see it.
