May 4, 201610 yr Ms Slick and I are taking her 8yr old son and teenage daughter and friend for a few days in early June, just booked flight and room. We are staying on North Ocean Blvd about mile or so from Boardwalk and Broadway at the Beach. We went about 4 years ago, so just looking for suggestions on stuff.
May 4, 201610 yr We stayed in the same area of Myrtle Beach years ago. Sorry to say it wasn't a pleasant trip. When we got back all my friends told me to always stay in North Myrtle Beach.
May 4, 201610 yr We always stay in North Myrtle Beach when we go as well. Less crowds and the same atmosphere.
May 4, 201610 yr We always play a few miniature golf courses and veg out at the beach. There is a ton of stuff to do in Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. Make sure you get a BiLo card and shop at BiLo. They are a good mixture of Kroger and Walmart and they are less crowded than both also if you go at the right time. The BiLo card is just like a Kroger card and they have gas stations also. Plenty of seafood restaurants down there obviously. I'd recommend using Google or Yelp to find a good one that suits you. Customer reviews are always helpful. There are two Tanger Outlets in the Myrtle Beach area. The one closest to you is the better one but they are both high quality. I haven't been to Boardwalk at the Beach in a long long time. Very expensive for shopping but lots of eating/drinking choices there. Do you have any particular questions about the area?
May 4, 201610 yr Also, don't forget about south of Myrtle Beach. Murrell's Inlet and Pawley's Plantation are both beautiful areas with very nice restaurant choices and plenty of golf courses.
May 4, 201610 yr Author Our short family beach trips are pretty simple usually. We usually only leave the room/beach once per evening for dinner/entertainment.
May 4, 201610 yr Also, don't forget about south of Myrtle Beach. Murrell's Inlet and Pawley's Plantation are both beautiful areas with very nice restaurant choices and plenty of golf courses. We used to always go to South Myrtle, specifically Pawleys. It's more family oriented, but as was mentioned, great food, lots of golf, and much quieter.
May 5, 201610 yr Wife and I will be down there with some of her family in July. Staying at some place called Ocean Lakes. :idunno: Haven't been in over 10 years, so interested to see how different it is.

May 5, 201610 yr Dont get in the ocean. Really. Don't plan on it. The beach is as far I go. And after my wife's encounter with jellyfish on our honeymoon, she won't be getting in the water any time soon either. :lol2:

And after my wife's encounter with jellyfish on our honeymoon, she won't be getting in the water any time soon either. :lol2: Its the bacteria in the water thats not safe. Even the Health Dept in Myrtle Beach tells people to not get into the water.

May 6, 201610 yr Murrells Inlet for dinner is good. For 8 year old boy - there is USS North Carolina to the north at Wilmington or USS Lexington to the south at Charleston. NASCAR go-carts - more than your regular go-carting place. Various power ranges. Good for whole family. Good water-parks. One is near NASCAR, other one is in Surfside to the south. Outlet Mall on north side.
