Since winning the state championship in 1991, GRC has had 8 winning seasons in the past 25 years. 3 of those 8 were 6-5 campaigns. They have won just 6 playoff games in the same time getting past the 2nd round of the playoffs just twice and won zero region titles.

 

Sportsfan08 is dealing with the reality and facts of GRC over a 25 year period. Everyone works hard, you got to have some talent.

There is enough talent in the school system for GRC to be .500 or better each and every season while playing at a high level in 6A.

 

Talent level is not an all or nothing proposition. Talent can be developed from different maturity and athletic levels.

 

To undermine the talent level of these GRC players is atrocious and damaging on your part.

 

I would ask you not to comment on GRC Football threads anymore, no matter how you sugarcoat your apologies.

And I'm not apologizing for anything. Saying kids don't have the same God given talent as others do is part of life. Some schools work hard to be .500 and are maximizing their talent. That's the boat GRC is currently in.

I don't believe he singled out or bashed a kid. The only name in this thread that was produced was by you, about a transfer rumor. This is a site that gives opinion about high school sports...what do you expect? I'm sure somewhere on the internet they have a trophy kid message board you might be better suited for.

You seem to have a better head on your shoulders than supporting AreLinz with regards to his comment. I have no kids on the team. I support the team and know that there is tremendous talent in the school system. Your support of his comment is unacceptable in my eyes.

I agreed he was not trouncing anyone player. I also agreed with the part where he said he did not say they worked hard. I took it all in all he was calling it as he sees it.

Given the size of GRC I'd be surprised if they didn't have better talent than their 2015 record would indicate.

 

The problem is getting those talented students interested, developed, and onto the field. From everything my cousins in the area said, football isn't a priority to guys their age.

I suspect that you hit close to the mark. The probability that there is talent in a school the size of Clark County is high. Interest and development are probably the issue.

Look 3 years is plenty of time to win some games. If they only win 3 or 4 games with the talent they have at GRC they might have made a mistake. I hope the guy wins and I am never in favor of just firing coaches to fire them and it is public school football but if in 3 years at GRC you are not showing more improvement then I cant see them keeping him. Again I hope he wins but the bottom line is it is GRC not Jackson Co.

Cards have no place to go but up in 2016. Hopefully offseason conditioning and great pre-season practices will get them back on track.

Hearing a really low turnout for practice so far. Less than 50 kids total. A 6A program cannot survive on that.

Yes

That has to be the lowest of any 6a team in the state.

The frustration that is 6A football in Kentucky, losing every year to a private school that plays by a different set of rules than public schools do. Not trying to start a fight but the kids see no hope of ever winning in this environment.

Clark County recently went back to one middle school and this has caused many kids not to have an opportunity to play after civitan football. Add to this the research and findings regarding concussions and the long term effect, football I am afraid is becoming a sport many parents and kids opt out of. I wish Clark County could turn this around and become the formidable foe of yester year. In todays climate, with all the things I've mentioned and more, it looks like mediocrity is the pattern of the future for football in Clark County.

It will take a great motivator and coach to field a winning team anytime soon. I hope this coach can see the path to success or maybe his predecessor will.
