April 25, 201610 yr I have come to believe that what the Republican Party really needs is for Ted Cruz to be their nominee. For the future of the party, it is almost a must. Here is why I say this. The Republican Party has become bi-polar. It is two parties in one. You have the traditional party led by business and moderate conservatives, and you have the Tea Party far right faction driven by anti-government, social conservativism. Ted Cruz is the ultimate Tea Party candidate. He is smart and believes virtually all the Tea Party stands for. This party needs to have the Tea Party darling run in the general election. We all need to see what happens when the ultimate Tea Party candidate is presented to the national electorate. I have heard it and read in many places that the problem with Republican nominees the last two elections is they aren't conservative enough. That comment will never be made about Ted Cruz. In my opinion, if Ted Cruz is the nominee the Tea Party faction will finally get what they want - that truly conservative candidate. And after the election the traditional Republicans will end up getting what they want too - a Tea Party that is a part of the party, not opposed to the party. Because if Ted Cruz is the nominee, Hillary Clinton wins in a landslide that will shock the Tea Party into reality. She likely will lead the Dems to control of the Senate. It will be the dose of reality that the Republican Party needs to come back together. It will be a very bitter pill to swallow, but it may finally be the slap in the face the Tea Party faction, and the Republican Party, need to move forward.

Between that and Koch's signalling their support for Hillary , the conservative movement will be DEAD. International corporate interests will be ruling this country (Still).Conservative social causes will be DEAD. The Nanny State will be expanded, and the middle class will be squeezed out of existence. Cruz is a tool to get to a brokered convention, nothing more.

I honest to God do not know one Ted Cruz supporter. I have never seen a Ted Cruz sign or shirt. He obviously has a following but I have not seen any of these folks. Anyone with me on this? Is anyone on BGP a Cruz supporter?

Is anyone on BGP a Cruz supporter? With the exception of Indiana, I cannot think of a state east of the Mississippi in which he has significant support. His primary support is in the plains states. Cruz has only had 2 or so of his senate GOP colleagues endorse him. That tells you something right there.

April 25, 201610 yr Hillary is winning it, and it won't be all that close. Trump has done enough damage, and if he does not get the nomination, he will run as an Independent. Cruz will finish 3rd if that happens.

April 25, 201610 yr At this point I do hope Trump gets the nomination outright because if he doesn't he will run in the fall as an independent and hand the election to Hillary.
April 25, 201610 yr Isn't Cruz the Tea Party choice in this election? Is that just a coincidence that the evangelicals and the Tea Party are supporting the same candidate? I just know that Tea Party is for individual liberties. One Tea Party group supports Cruz another supports Trump and one of the co-founders has said he supports Trump. The Tea Party is more an Ideal than a political party IMO.
