April 20, 201610 yr I'm taking my son (9 year old) to a Reds game in June. I think it's a night game vs St. Louis. I've never been to the new stadium and haven't attended a Reds game in years. Any advice? Things I can do to make it a memorable experience for him? Fun things to check out? Thanks in advance!
April 20, 201610 yr They have a fans zone that has a ton of stuff for kids... Kroger Fan Zone Located on the Terrace Level along the west side of Great American Ball Park, the Kroger Fan Zone was built on the former site of Riverfront Stadium during the second and final phase of construction at Great American Ball Park. The Kroger Fan Zone features interactive games for kids, a Wiffle® ball field, the Bob Evans Reds Heads Kids Clubhouse, a playground, the Mega Concession Stand, Rose Garden, the Concert Stage, the Ole Smoky Party Barn and two additional entrance locations for Guests. New this year in the Kroger Fan Zone are Carnival Games for kids. Try your luck at ring toss, knock down milk bottles, or try and make a basket. Prices range from $2-$5 per game. On select days, the Wiffle Ball Field may only have Run the Bases opportunities. In the event of rain, interactives may close for your safety and the safety of Reds Game Day Team Members. All Fan Zone activities are open until the last out of the game.

Our mascots are available for events outside of Great American Ball Park. For information regarding scheduling, pricing and availability for mascot appearances, call (513) 765-7100 and ask for the mascot coordinator. Mascots can also be requested for seat visits during the game upon availability. To request a mascot during a game simply go to any one of the Reds Fan Accommodation Stations located throughout the ballpark.

Reds Hall of Fame & Museum Get there early enough to get in for batting practice for the Cardinals (hour and a half before game time). The ushers will let you go down right up against the railings and try to get a couple autographs. Lots of players from both teams typically will sign for kids at that time.

Is batting practice sometimes closed? We were there 2 seasons ago and gates didn't open until afterwards...at least when we went in there was no batting practice. We went in as soon as the gates opened.

Have been early to 2 games so far this season with my son and have not seen any Reds stop to sign during BP or as they walk off the field. Last year we were able to get Votto and Frazier during BP though. I would definitely check out the kids zone. There is a place he can hit wiffleballs as well as a batting cage on the lower level.

I thought maybe only season ticket holders got in early for BP or something, I didn't know.

April 20, 201610 yr Reds also give certificates for people attending their first Reds games: Fans attending games at Great American Ball Park can now receive personalized certificates for the following occurrences: Anniversaries Birthdays First Reds Game Great Catch Certificates can be requested at any Fan Accommodations location on Game Days. There is no cost to our Guests for these certificates. If you have a group of 10 or more please call ahead and we will have them ready for you at the Fan Also, would be nice to park at Newport Levy and walk across the purple people bridge to the game.

For the most part from my experience, the only times the visitors don't take batting practice on the field are 12:35 games, 1:10 games, and threat of rain.

Last year we were able to get Votto and Frazier during BP though. I've noticed that this year as well. Frazier would sign quite a few autographs literally every game last year. BP would be up there quite a bit as well, taking selfies with fans and signing autographs. Just haven't seen it as much this year.
