Red Fox chilling in Ft Thomas backyard

Featured Replies

I saw this around 7pm the other night and it just sat there not spooked at all. A swingset was like 20 ft away.

I've seen them around several neighborhoods in Northern Kentucky over the years. Quite a few in Devou/Winding Hills, and as of late there has been one hanging out in Lakeside Park by my in-laws for quite a while. Really cool to see when you do...but when they're out in the daylight, you REALLY should stay away from them. That often implies sickness.

Yeah I was thinking what if kids were out playing and came in contact.

My first thought was to be completely surprised he was still alive.

Curious---if a child started to move toward the fox, would the fox run away or come toward the child?

It appears that you may want to get a Local Landscaper over there to repair that wall!

But then again you can't see it from my house.....:)

Run away. They don't want any part of human interaction. It's amazing at how small they really are. They aren't but about 20-30 pounds in size full grown.

Now, if a toddler? Maybe different, but Mom/Dad would be close by and they'd be the trump card for ole' Foxy to 'keep it moving'.

Cool little critters. Love seeing them around the house. It's been a few years since I've spotted one. I don't think they would go after anything that is remotely close to their size.

I've never heard of a reported Fox attack other than that darn annoying song released for kids a few years back which was human produced!!!

It's actually where you turn left to go back to Riverside right before that little garage on the right. Next time you are over there take a paver and fill that in. LOL

Why does them being out in daylight imply they're sick?

Coyotes and foxes will venture out during daylight hours in search of food. Both animals are opportunistic feeders, meaning they will hunt for food as the opportunity presents itself – regardless of day or night.

I have seen them out furing the day and they usually run off.
