Was he bad for both teams?

Yes he was, although I do not notice as much for the other team.

Looking through my Red googles.

The Reds pen is awful and the Cubs line up is relentless. This isn't hard to figure out...

Jumbo served one up on a platter.

Everyone gets on Hamilton that this season is his last shot....How about Cingrani? The guy is truly awful. He's gotta be done after this year.

Definitely been a disappointment.

You would think as much experience that he has that he would have better control. The ump was awful both ways, had the strike zone of a mouse, may not truly know what a strike is. When the pitching staff gets healthy I really think they will be fine in the bullpen because it will move people around. Lorenzon would make a good closer in my opinion, nasty stuff. Jumbo and Hoover are our 2 losses just like last year.

Technically a HBP on a Nuke Lalouche 45' off speed pitch. Actually helped prevent a runner from advancing and reduced Cingrani's BB total by 1!!!

I can put up with a lot of crap from a rebuilding team, but walks is not 1 of them. Finnegan was awesome EXCEPT the 5 BBs in 6.2. Cotham walked the only guy he faced in the 7th. Cingrani gives up the 2R single in the 7th to Fowler on an 0-2 pitch that was supposed to be elevated (and wasn't). He comes back in the 8th with a BB, WP and then a HBP that would have been a BB if it didn't hit him. Russell hit Jumbo's 1st pitch DEEP. Think maybe he was sitting on a "get ahead in the count" fastball?

At what point does everyone think Price should have started warming someone up in the bullpen?

The start of the 7th. Finnegan was already at 93 pitches headed into the inning. Should've had someone up almost immediately as it was obviously his last inning regardless of how he did.

Just before Finnegan went out to start the 7th. He was already at 90+ pitches at that point. I think he got 2 outs in the 7th, but failed to get the final 2 hitters. As soon as Ross blooped the single into left center, I would've pulled Finnegan. I don't know that the bullpen would've done any better, but that's what I would've done. Instead, the bullpen started warming up after the bloop, wasn't ready for the next hitter (which Finnegan walked) and came in with 2 runners on.

I don't warm anyone up until the hit. But that's just me.

Price and the pitching coach had already called to the bullpen and basically said one of two things "someone gets on, get Cingrani and Cotham loose" or "someone gets a hit, get Cingrani and Cotham loose." I know the 7th would be the last for Finnegan anyhow but if he makes it through unscathed, you warm someone up after the inning.

I don't know what type of mental toughness Finnegan has but it's possible he sees someone warming up (the bullpens are right there at Wrigley) and he starts thinking "is this my last hitter" instead of just pitching.

^ I lean towards nku's comment. I don't think I warm anyone up until the first base runner gets on.

I get that it's cool that he had a no-hitter going but 5 walks in 6+ innings sort of diminishes that for me. Kudos for not letting them get him into trouble for the first 6.
