Yes, this really happened during the game

Featured Replies

During a game I was recently at I observed the following.

A pitcher, who has struggled big time the two times she has pitched was struggling really badly as she had the entire time she had been in this game.

The coach had not called time to try and settle her down but she did set in the dugout and have a pretty long conversation with the kids mother.

Unbelievable.

Not sure what the issue is....that the pitcher was struggling and the coach didn't go to the mound to talk to her ? That she was talking to the pitcher's mother ?

What is the issue ?

LOL ! I read this same exact thing on an southern ohio sports website . It didnt make sense and it doesnt know . Need to fill in some blanks for this one to make sense .

I'm assuming mom being in the dugout is the issue?

The mom was not in the dugout, she was there as a fan. She was standing by the dugout taking pitchers of her daughter, the pitcher. And the coach stops watching the game and begins a long conversation with the mom The pitcher mean while, who is a freshman, is struggling. The coach pays little or no attention to this, while the pitcher continues to struggle as she did so the entire game.

Camoflouge it any way you want, but you have an over protective parent failing to let her kid succeed or fail on her own. Helicopter parent interference at its best. Golly, how do coaches deal with this garbage?

Was the mom wearing an SEC sweatshirt?

Still not seeing the issue ? I could go with any one of the following:

1) Freshman pitcher needed a visit to mound by coach

2) Coach shouldn't be talking to Mom during game

3) Coach should be encouraging freshman pitcher, not talking to Mom

4) Mom was so hot, that coach completely forgot why he was hired having put in multiple hours coaching high school kids, and therefore completely neglected his duties as a high school coach while focused on chatting up hot mom.

5) Coach knows what he is doing and was being coach....just not to your expectations

The coach started the conversation. The parent had not said a word to the coach up to that point.

As another coach I spoke to on this said the coach who is a lady. Should have gone out and spoke to the pitcher and have another pitcher getting ready to enter the game brought the starter back in, being she was in the field and allowed to go back in to pitch. This coached after the game was over tells a player I would have put you in but I had no clue we were in the seventh inning. As far as me expecting anything from any coach you are wrong because I am there watching the game as a fan,who observes things

What does that have to do with anything?

I thought maybe a fan of an SEC team may have caused your "SEC issue" to kick in.

Was the mom attractive? I need more details

So your beef is you think the coach is not very good?

He was not paying attention to the game. Should have made changes but did not. Didn't know how bad pitcher was doing. Didn't know what inning the game was in. Spent time chatting with a lady versus doing his job?

I'm assuming you were there as a bystander and this guy coaches the team you went to root for?
