April 6, 201610 yr Anybody still questioning Skal's decision to move onto the NBA needs to read this article. Perfectly sums up why he is making the decision that he is making. Skal Labissiere made the only sensible move and entered the 2016 NBA Draft - CBSSports.com
April 6, 201610 yr Under the current system, you are correct in that he has, or at least should go at this time. There should be 0 requirement for going to college though. If Skal thought he was ready last year then may God bless him on his journey. Exactly. Requiring these kids to go to college for a year (or at all) is stupid, IMO. If they are ready or want to go to the NBA straight out of high school, they should be allowed to. Skal probably cost himself money by going to UK (insert any school) for a year and that just doesn't seem right.
April 6, 201610 yr Author Skal probably cost himself money by going to UK (insert any school) for a year and that just doesn't seem right. But that's exactly why the NBA has the rule. They want to protect the owners from making bad investments on a high school kid.

Skal Labissiere made the only sensible move and entered the 2016 NBA Draft - CBSSports.com Great article. Kind of says it all. Good fortunes young man, hope you will live long and prosper.
April 6, 201610 yr I'm not sure where people get the idea that a player will be better developed by NCAA teams/coaches than NBA teams/coaches. Makes no sense.
April 6, 201610 yr Anybody still questioning Skal's decision to move onto the NBA needs to read this article. Perfectly sums up why he is making the decision that he is making. Skal Labissiere made the only sensible move and entered the 2016 NBA Draft - CBSSports.com Kinda puts things in prospective that we would ALL take the money when your family is living in a school. Best of luck to Skal, he will have a nice long career in the NBA. He's not going to be out of the league in two years. Add some weight and muscle and he will be fine.
April 6, 201610 yr But that's exactly why the NBA has the rule. They want to protect the owners from making bad investments on a high school kid. And force the colleges to "foot the bill" for exhibiting the talent.
April 6, 201610 yr Yup. I don't see a lot of playing time at UK for him unless he somehow put on 25 pounds of muscle this summer. So he cannot play at Kentucky, so he should go to the NBA. Not sure I get that logic. This kid better hope he gets drafted in round 1 and gets a guaranteed contract because it will likely be his only one.
April 6, 201610 yr So he cannot play at Kentucky, so he should go to the NBA. Not sure I get that logic. This kid better hope he gets drafted in round 1 and gets a guaranteed contract because it will likely be his only one. He's going to be a lottery pick.
April 6, 201610 yr So he cannot play at Kentucky, so he should go to the NBA. Not sure I get that logic. This kid better hope he gets drafted in round 1 and gets a guaranteed contract because it will likely be his only one. There are only five potential spots for him to play at Kentucky. Between the NBA and D-League, there are hundreds. And he'll be getting paid. It's a no-brainer.
April 6, 201610 yr So he cannot play at Kentucky, so he should go to the NBA. Not sure I get that logic. This kid better hope he gets drafted in round 1 and gets a guaranteed contract because it will likely be his only one. He's without question getting drafted in the 1st round. I really don't understand the mindset of people who think he should be turning down a guaranteed $5M....Like any of us would turn that down to work for free.
April 6, 201610 yr He's going to be a lottery pick. And that shows you why the bottom feeders in the NBA are the bottom feeders year after year after year after year. I know exactly why he needs to go, does not mean that I have to agree with it no matter the circumstances.
April 6, 201610 yr He's without question getting drafted in the 1st round. I really don't understand the mindset of people who think he should be turning down a guaranteed $5M....Like any of us would turn that down to work for free. First of all there are no guarantees in life or basketball for that matter. If this guy is a lottery pick or even a first rounder, it speaks volumes to me. Secondly, he may make $ 5 million as you say and be out of the league in two years hoping to land a contract playing in the D League. You guys can argue all you want about what he can get and I will stand firmly on what I said that he will see little if any time in the NBA for the duration of his rookie contract and will likely be trying to hold onto roster spots in the future. Let's see can you say Harrison twins, Dakari Johnson, Marquis Teague just to name a few off the teams in the last few years.
April 6, 201610 yr Teague made himself about $5M....You'd have turned down that opportunity to play for free? Yeah right.
