Shake the players hands and move one. If you want to praise their play then fine. It's not your place to "coach" them.

So coach K called Brooks a liar, video says otherwise.... Is he going to apologize?

I am thinking Brooks will take the high road, he should be sending coach K a message letting him know that he is too good a coach to be lying about what he actually said.... own it coach!!!

That qualifies as a lecture nowadays. Duly noted.

If a coach said that to my kid after the game in the handshake line after my kid did something that could be perceived as unsportsmanlike then I'd tell my kid their coach was right. If you're going to do something that many perceive is unsportsmanlike then be prepared for the old school folks to let you know about it.

Hell, you'd think Coach K had grabbed the kid and threw him up against the wall and scolded him for an hour the way this is being played out.

I get it, Coach K lied in the press conference about it and for some of you all that is a huge issue. For others Coach K is a sore loser who comes off as a jerk for telling a kid he's better than that.

Duly noted. :lol2: :lol2:

I don't even care that he said something. It was the end of their season and emotions were running high. Plus when you win 1,000 games, you've earned the right to give an opinion. But don't lie about it and make the kid out to be a liar.

He's earned the right to be coy and not tell the media what he doesn't want them to know. Like we really care about whether or not Dillon Brooks is made out to be a liar. :lol2:

Matter of fact, I'm glad Coach K said something to him. He should have said more. Hell, probably should have tripped him in the line to make it complete. I'm glad he lied about it in the press conference when put on the spot about it. It's time to embrace the darkside, Coach K. Screw it. Duke vs. Everybody. Go wrap up Marques Bolden with the rest of these one and dones and show folks how it's really done. Duke vs. Everybody.

Let's get it!!!!!!!!

I have no issues with a HoF Coach caring enough to not ignore a teachable moment. Young man showed no class in throwing up the last second bomb. Game over, time to show class and respect for game and opponents. Dribble it out and not pad stats. Simply what Coach K was trying to tell the young man, he's too great a player to be a look at me type when the game is won.

Coach K's comments afterwards were an attempt to not put the young man's actions in the spotlight. Unfortunately, the young man showed poor judgement again and chose to do just that. No respect for the game or opponents. The entitlement generation on display.

First part, I get your point, I just don't think it is his place to do so.

Can't agree with the second part. I don't know how you know what he was attempting to do in the press conference. As for the young man, I think you are off here as well, he actually said coach K was right and he should be showing more respect.

Really? :ohbrother:

That's all fun and games until the audio surfaces

That's all fun and games until the audio surfaces

Only Duke haters care about the audio. Duke fans knew what he said and why he said it. Normally when a team concedes the winning team isn't supposed to keep shooting and then celebrate after taking the shot that didn't need to be taken.

The same way folks say that Coach K needs to own what he says goes for Duke haters concerned about this non story being sensationalized by the media. Just say you hate Duke because of Christian Laettner. That's what it is anyways. Especially for you folks who I know HATE when teams run the score up.

Everyone does realize Altman told Brooks to shoot it, right?

Classless? What a joke. :lol2:

Guy from ESPN stats department tweeted yesterday that there were 7 instances this season where Duke players attempted 3 point shots in the last 45 seconds of games in which Duke was leading by 15+ points.

A few of these attempts were within final 10 seconds of game and all were by players who started the game.

Selective memory by Coach K or is he applying a double standard ?
