If Allen is back at PC they're in the top 3, Paris and Brossart will be tough again, Campbell will be as good as their younger kids can take them much like Mason, Scott will be strong and CC & MoCo are large schools that will always be in the mix. Bracken returns a core group but they've underperformed in relation to expectations the past several years but I think Bourbon could be the X factor. They return a lot of talent and Blackburn could contest for POY. My Panthers will be down after being so competitive for so long but winning seems to make you a little more confident over time just as losing has that opposite effect so I'm hopeful we'll be competitive.

I agree about Bourbon County somewhat, only thing that I question was why their record wasn't better this year. Is there chemistry issues to overcome?,coaching? They definetly had the talent this year and will next as well. I would put Pendleton in the middle of the top 10 pack, they will return Walsh and Dennie with Allen but don't know if that will counter losing Wood. One school that I wonder isn't better than what they have showed is Nicholas County. Their senior and junior group for next year were really good in middle school.

10th Region ball never stops. So who at this point do we see leading the pack. I see things as a five horse race.

 

1. Mason County - Losing Pig hurts, but with the core of Isaiah Garrison, Jaylen Lofton, Levi Dunaway, and Dalton Perkins the defending region champs will be a tough out.

 

2. Bracken County - They have the best player in the region in Crawford, one of the best coaches in the region in Hinson, and an experienced support staff that's been playing together for years. They're going to be extremely hungry after the way their season ended. This may be the Polar Bears' year.

 

3. Pendleton County - Two words, Dontae Allen, a future five star recruit and Darius Miller's heir apparent in the line of succession for 10th Region legends. If he stays on Belcher's Bombers may well be headed to Rupp. IF he stays on. That's a big IF. Only time will tell.

 

4. Scott - They bring back Jake Ohmer, a prolific scorer and the Mick Jagger to Austin Crawford's John Lennon. Losing Coach Carr really hurts though. We will have to see how the crew from Covington adjusts.

 

5. Montgomery County - They lose a lot to graduation, but they do return probably the best front court in the region in sophomore Brennan Canada and senior Jerryd Jones (probably the most athletic player in the 10th), if Coach Daniel can find the guard play to back them up the Indians are more than capable of continuing their winning ways.

IMHO I think Allen will be the best player in the region, he will surpass Crawford and Ohmer in all categories by the end of the next school season. I don't think Crawford is individually a dominant enough player to take the Polar Bears into the top 5. While I do think Allen is that type of player, so PC will be tough. I think Campbell is super deep and will reload with a new identity (one without the dominant big man) and they will surprise people and win games. They are too deep to not finish in the top 5 by seasons end. Lastly I do not think losing Carr will keep Scott from being a force this next year. There will be some bumps early on but by the end of the season they will be good

GRC lost 4 Seniors that were all starters, We had 11 Sophomores on the varsity team. We will be small again but quick and good on defense. Where our offense will come from could be Taylor ,Wilson and Philphot.

disagree....shoots to much and just because kids can score 20 a game taking 20 shots doesn't make them a good player. It takes 5 players to make a team better.

 

Allen took 476 shots and hit 48.7%. Compare to the following:

Crawford of Bracken-478 and50%

Ohmer of Scott-544 and 43.2%.

Pig Williams of Mason-495 and42.2%.

Vonhandorf of CovCath-465 and45.6%.

Weyer of NCC-469 and 51.4%.

 

The better players take more shots.

It is really hard for me to gauge these teams. I think next year will be quite a bit like this past year in terms of parity.

 

If I had to pick a top team, I'd probably go with Paris, especially now that Carr is no longer at Scott. The Hounds lose Garrard & Clark, but still return a ton of talent. I look for Eric Johnson to emerge as a Top 10 player in the Region. He & Jekobi Wells should be quite the duo. Marcus Ashford will be a dandy running the point.

 

Losing Carr is going to be an enormous hit for Scott, but they will have a boatload of seniors, led by Jake Ohmer. Vinnie Duimlao really improved last season and should have a good senior year. Chad Ohmer, Tim Jolley, & Andrew Dixon are other names that come to mind. Size will be a problem for the Eagles, as well as having to play under a new head coach.

 

I think Mason County is still going to be very good. They return 2 starters in Garrison & Lofton, plus Levi Dunaway. The development of Dalton Perkins will be huge for the Royals. He can be a game changer in the middle.

 

Pendleton County will have an outstanding trio in Dontaie Allen, Mason Dennie, & Grant Walsh. As others have said, though, replacing Hunter Wood will be a tall task for the Wildcats.

 

Montgomery County returns a couple of solid front court players in Jerryd Jones & Brennan Canada. Question mark for the Indians will be replacing that stellar back court.

 

Bracken County has its two top players returning in Austin Crawford & Jacob Hamilton. Brady Jones showed some improvement last year, and I think if he can develop a consistent post presence, the Polar Bears could have a terrific season.

 

Campbell County loses the big fella, but Cole Hegyi is back. Garren Bertsch & Tanner Clos both had good seasons, and I believe the Camels have an impressive soon-to-be-sophomore class too.

 

Those are the teams that come to my mind first. As goldie has said, GRC lost a ton from last year. Brossart is in the same boat. I really don't know a great deal about the younger players in those two programs.

 

I wouldn't sleep on Bourbon County either. Ameryon Blackburn & Titus Ransom will be a great back court for the Colonels.
