I see a glaring omission in this way too early preseason poll. If we are talking 2a small school football, where experience means everything. How could we forget about Cov Holy Cross with their 20+ returning senior class.

Would be good to see NCC challenged at home. What about Lloyd, Juggs56 said he thinks they maybe a district favorite, are they in the same district with HC and NCC?

We are all in the same district. Since HC will have the most experienced team, why would anyone be favored over them in a preseason poll.

Consider me excited to see this years District 7 in 2a. I think the Jumpers made some strides last year and they have solid classes all across the board now. Throw in Josh Cornett, Logan Gadberry, and a host of other Jumpers to the names that were mentioned in the original post that have gotten MUCH stronger in the months since the 2015 campaign ended and I think they will contend for the east again. When the alignment came out I think everyone expected District 7 to be very competitive and I'm thinking this is going to be the year that there are at least three teams that could be considered in the the top eight of the class overall in one district... Should be a fun run. The incoming freshman class has somewhere around 25 kids, great numbers for a 2a program in one class. The seniors that are there now have started or seen time for multiple years, really looking forward to the upcoming season!

They will be better than the last couple years, but they aren't state contenders. They'll contend with Lloyd and NewCath and probably beat 1 of them. But that is about the extent of that district this year.

I doubt anyone is sleeping on them but the star power back at CAL a year bigger stronger and faster or in that QB's case more poised and experienced certainly is a attention getter. They also return Olsofka on the line who will be a force. Outside that I am unsure but they get my attention as a major threat to get the title.

Simpson for DS returns as the best back they have I think but the loss of the QB will be a major loss for the Colts and makes me wonder how productive their offense will be

Great article and review! I believe the East will be much better this year but the West is stacked....yet again. Mayfield looks unstoppable and CAL is going to be really good.

I don't know where we will be traveling for the semi-finals, because my only knowledge is about M, anything I learn about opponents is accidental. Toothpick covered us pretty good, I will just repeat that last year was supposed to be our down year, and was a year many M fans were a bit nervous about. Colts dress 90....I assure you kids you have never heard of will step up. I also said CAL definitely has some studs back. But looking at their roster they lose their top 2 WR's - both 1st team all district, Top RB - 1st team all district, 3 starting Offensive/Defensive lineman - at least 1 was 1st team all district, their starting safety - don't think he was all district but was hurt for the first half, and 2 starting linebackers and a starting CB. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they dress like 35 kids? That is a lot to replace on a roster of 35. I'm not a hater either. I pull for CAL when they aren't playing the Brown and White.

Yes, former Cardinal lineman and now Louisville Dr. John Olsofka's son. A sophomore at CAL where last year he made all district as a tackle. We watched him play DS last year and he was very impressive. So much so that I told his dad that it was time to do the right thing get back home.
