March 7, 201610 yr Some of the same ignorant people that wanted Tubby gone are some the same ones which now criticize Calipari, even with the success he's had. Some UK fans, the ones other teams fans hate, are also hated by UK fans as they are unreasonable and have no concept of reality. This Calipari ride won't last forever and anyone that's not enjoying it while it's happening, will really be depressed when he leaves and the next coach doesn't match his success. This

I think that's the biggest thing. No realistic UK fans wants any part of Cal leaving, if this prolongs his stay here, Great!!!

March 7, 201610 yr I know Brad isn't an elite talent, but does anybody know if he had any other college offers? The names I heard were Middle Tennessee, Liberty, and Northeastern, but that was just folks talking on the radio. Don't know how accurate they were with their info.

March 7, 201610 yr So while I agree with those who said Brad Calapari coming doesn't guarantee Coach Cal staying as some of you are father's wouldn't coaching your son affect your decision in some fashion ? We aren't talking about going from WKU to a major program. We are talking about going from if not the highest paying college job , one of the highest paying jobs. I would say having Brad in the fold does make any impeding NBA offer needing to be that much better.

March 8, 201610 yr I am happy for Brad and I hope he enjoys every minute being a part of the BBN. It will be a cool moment for him and his family when the time comes for him to get on the court in a UK uniform and 24K people scream for him to shoot the ball and he makes it. That will be an awesome moment for their family and all of BBN. I don't think this is a sign that Cal is staying. Kevin Willard went to play for his dad, Ralph Willard, at WKU after high school and when Ralph was hired at Pitt he followed his dad to Pitt. Kevin is now the head coach at Seton Hall. Ralph is now Rick's assistant. Cal could be staying but I don't think Brad coming to UK has any bearing on that. If Cal was still at Memphis Brad would be going to Memphis. I do wish Brad well. I remember BBN getting a little sensitive over his treatment by the Boyle County student section last year. Welcome back, Brad and good luck!!!! Enjoy every minute!!! While it may not be a sign that Cal is staying put and I do completely understand your point, using the WKU coach and Cal as an analogy makes me chuckle a little. No disrespect to WKU at all, I really like that program and wish them well. But UK and WKU aren't in the same stratosphere in terms of a desirable coaching job. WKU, like a lot of smaller conference schools are considered stepping stones to get to more lucrative schools/conferences. While you could say the same could be said for coaches at top tier NCAA job's wanting a chance at the NBA, I'm not sure Cal would fit that bill in this instance. He's hung his hat in that ring before and failed, I honestly can't see him leaving his son at UK to take that chance again. Unless he's in some kind of financial trouble and needs more money to support his family, I don't see him going anywhere for the next 4 years. At that point, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he retires. Assuming again, that he is financially stable.
