No one knew if Lebron would come back or not, even the Cavs didn't know. If they knew they wouldn't have hired Blatt before James decided to come back. If it was a for sure thing James was going back then there is a good chance Cal takes it. Then also did he not know if James was going back. Cal also had all his players deciding to return after a runner up season. Knowing he would have a loaded team and a chance to go undefeated and make history. So as UK fans we got very lucky with the timing of things. With James not being back yet and Cal having a lot of kids coming back it basically kept Cal here.

He travels a ton the way it is in his current coaching gig. He would travel a little more in the NBA but Coach Cal is always flying somewhere to recruit the next crop and/or check in on her NBA guys. Not wanting to travel, in my opinion, has nothing to do with him staying in Lexington.

The conversation was around why he would leave. Not that he is going to leave. If he leaves it won't be because of the money or because of Brad. It will be because of his ego. That hasn't happened yet and it may not ever happen.

March 9, 201610 yr Ok - What about Steph and the Warriors? Did the Warriors even try to get him? It seemed like the Warriors made Kerr their top choice right away. Plus was they willing to give Cal roster control? The Cavs offered Cal everything he wanted and if he knew James was coming back then he was probably gone. Also Cal even said how could he leave UK with all his players deciding to return. Showing he probably would have done it if all his players didn't return. For us UK fans the situation and timing worked well for us. If the players weren't coming back and he knew James would be there, then he would have been gone.

The part where he is spending his precious time working with his son. Heaven forbid that John Calipari take time out of his day to spend it with his kid.
