Central Hardin 72 Caverna 71 (5th Region)

Featured Replies

Caverna had the ball up 71-69 with Faulkner at the FT line with about 30 seconds left, but he missed a pair of FTs that could've just about iced it.

On the next possession, Central's Steven Thompson was found all alone in the left corner. His three hit the rim and went straight up about 6 or so feet in the air, then fell through with 2.0 left.

Faulkner had a good look at a 38-footer that just missed as time expired. He ended up with a magnificent 45 in his final game and had to have at least 12 rebounds and a half-dozen assists.

Just a great game all around.

A shame that both Carson and Faulkner are both already out. Do love seeing each of them having huge nights in their finale. Hate that Faulkner missed a couple of FTs late, I'm sure those will hang with him for a while.

He was pretty tore up afterward. I hated it for him.

Great game but officiating struggled on both ends...and official book screwed up the score and tried to fix it on the run without notifying officials...correctable error but need to notify officials and not try to run with it...Faulkner is an amazing scorer!

That's a tough one. Faulkner is a really good shooter. Sounds like he was great once again. Free throws are becoming a lost art, though. Kids just don't understand how important the freebies are late in games. I hate to hear he missed two late. But he is just an outstanding player and will be fun to watch in college.

Was the score right on the scoreboard and not in the book?

He may have missed two others all game, and went to the line about 20 times.

I hate to hear it for Faulkner. One of the best scorers I ever saw in this state, love his game. It would have been great to see Caverna get one step closer to a regional title.

I echo this sentiment. Another fantastic high school career comes to an end.

Head up, Mason!!! Do big things at NKU!!!!!

The rule book defines "correctable error." My gut is you mean something different.

What happened?

I looked at the official book and didn't see much in the way of erase marks. I think it was more the scoreboard, but they got it right ultimately.

Figured something along those lines. That's not under "correctable errors."

Understandably. Sounds like a great player.

Central Hardin has won two of its last two elimination games in about the same manner. Matt Miller; John Hardin's all time leading scorer was at the line with 3 seconds left to win the district semi final game. He missed one of two...game went into overtime and well as they say the rest is history. Might be some destiny for this group

Central Hardin was up 64-60, Caverna hit a three pointer and the scoreboard read 63-62 Caverna, after consultation with scorers table, it was never corrected, there has to be something done regarding the training of high school officials. Earlier this year Central Hardin was ahead vs Breckenridge County by 1 point with 10 seconds left in the game, Breck drove down missed a shot, time ran out as Breck player rebounded and made a layup. Entire backboard was lit up read as he went up for the shot. The referee ran over to the scorers table, called the basket good, ran off the court, without consulting the other two referees, causing them to stare at each other then run off the court too. Possibly the worst call I have witnessed in 40 years of watching high school basketball. Taylor County fans who were in the stands commented that the same referee had called 7 technical in one of their games earlier in the year.
