Nope. If he doesn't want to go then don't go. I feel him totally. Funerals are awful. I'm not going to my wife's funeral so I am with Obama 100% on this one.

The fact that some are trying to make this out as a big deal is just sad. Expected, but sad none the less.

The President and First Lady were to pay their respects today to Justice Scalia and his family, along with many other political leaders today. However the President is not attending the Funeral on Saturday of Justice Scalia. According to the White House he will be spending most of the weekend reviewing the files of possible replacements for Scalia.

 

Should the President make time to attend the funeral or is it, cool that he's not.

 

For the record I think it was stated that as far as they can determine, no President has failed to attend the funeral service of a sitting Justice that passed away.

Like Obama, Ike was an avid golfer. The general even installed a putting green on the White House lawn. That's a first-class ticket for inclusion on Mtn Ref and JJ's list of worst presidents ever.

 

First off Ike is a war hero, Obama is a zero.

 

When the U2 spy plane was shot down over Russia, Kruschev demanded and apology, Ike never gave him one.

Obama has apologized more times than anyone can count.

I think we can take it one step further RM. They think anyone who doesn't agree completely with them is a traitor and hates America. It's sad our country is in this state, but it's our own fault. Until we realize we can disagree and still both want what's best for the country, we'll never progress forward.

Great post. And the politicians play off of it. Every thread in the politics forum is filled with is, "well, your guy did this, so it makes it acceptable for my guy to do it" or "you can't call out my guy, because some guy in your party in years past did the same thing."

 

As for the thread topic, it does seem like something Obama should attend, but I am not that worked up over it.

Why would he start acting Presidential this late in the game?
