theguru Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Via Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, there is “virtually no chance” receiver Mohamed Sanu will re-sign in Cincinnati. Marvez reports that the Browns, Falcons, and Giants “are among the teams expected to express interest” in Sanu, which is a roundabout way of saying that those three teams already have reached out to Sanu’s agent three-plus weeks before the two-day legal tampering window opens. Which is the kind of thing that’s rampantly occurring this time of year. “I think about that all the time,” Sanu told Marvez on SiriusXM NFL Radio regarding Sanu’s opportunities. “When you’ve got so much talent on one team, it’s hard to get the ball. It definitely crossed my mind going elsewhere. We’ve just got to see how everything unfolds.” Report: ?Virtually no chance? Mohamed Sanu will re-sign with the Bengals | ProFootballTalk
theguru Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 Looks like the Bengals could be losing Jones and Sanu making WR the Bengals #1 need.
MJAlltheWay24 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Looks like the Bengals could be losing Jones and Sanu making WR the Bengals #1 need. Would explain why I saw on the ticker last night that Mel Kiper has us projected to take one in the first round. Can't remember who it said.
Clyde Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Does he not get cable TV? Falcons have Julio. NYG has ODB. He's the 2 there like he is here. What am I missing?
UKMustangFan Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Does he not get cable TV? Falcons have Julio. NYG has ODB. He's the 2 there like he is here. What am I missing? Marvin Jones and Tyler Eifert apparently...
nkypete Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Maybe he sees Cam and thinks, "I could play QB".
Clyde Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Marvin Jones and Tyler Eifert apparently... Is Jones ahead of Sanu? Would Sanu be #2 if Jones leaves?
Bengal Maniac Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Is Jones ahead of Sanu? Would Sanu be #2 if Jones leaves? Yes Jones is ahead of Sanu as #2. Not sure Sanu is a solid #2. He is very versatile. He just doesn't stretch the field like Jones.

NKY Bandit Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Would explain why I saw on the ticker last night that Mel Kiper has us projected to take one in the first round. Can't remember who it said. Doctson from TCU. Seems like he was hurt at the end of the season. If Sanu wanted the ball more, maybe he should have gotten open. Andy did a better job of not always forcing the ball to Green. Eifert was open. Sanu will always struggle to get balls thrown to him if he's not open. Not fast enough to beat a corner and not physical enough to overpower a safety/LB for the ball.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I think I'm still traumatized by the 2014 season when he was forced to be the man due to injuries, and responded by being 2nd in the NFL in drops, and 1st in dropped percentage for WRs with at least 50 catches.
futurecoach Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Does he not get cable TV? Falcons have Julio. NYG has ODB. He's the 2 there like he is here. What am I missing? He is not and has not been the 2 when Jones is healthy. Basically when the Bengals are fully healthy he is the 4th option and sometimes 5th option when Gio is in the game. Losing Sanu doesn't really hurt much, losing Jones would hurt even though most disagree with me on that.
futurecoach Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 You can tell my NFL knowledge is slipping. Sorry I didn't see bengal maniac already responded to your original post.

Now two years ago when he had to be the number 1 reciever a lot when Green was hurt, he didn't do that well. However as the number 3 wr he did get open. However even though Dalton did a better job spreading the ball around, he still typically was the 4th option for Dalton. When you have Green, Eifert and Jones to throw to, a qb will look at those guys first.

You are right. He is a very good number 3 wr, but not a guy who you want to be the number wr as we seen two years ago.
