4. Please, SK fans, remain calm and enjoy the moment, but yes, there was a bit of a push off by Niece, on Adler (10). n.

Extending the arm does not mean there was a push. Watch it again. At no time did her arm push the defender.

Anyone have Highlands pegged for +7 losses vs last year at same point in season?

Anyone have Highlands pegged for +7 losses vs last year at same point in season?

Does it really matter? They will be in the region tourney with 7 other teams, most all of which have a shot on any given night to knock off the other. Records from this point forward mean nothing.

Maybe not 7, but I knew their schedule was going to be very tough. What no one accounted for were the number of injuries to key players over the course of the year and not having their gym to practice and play in until January. No excuses, but both those things had a little to do with it. Other than ND and HC, all their losses are to top 20 teams and some of those were in the top 5-8 at some point or most of the season. They also now have losses to sacred heart, mason co, and SK on last second shots and two of those were circus shots! They also played Holmes without two key players and led most of the game. They played them without the 6 year starting PG, who is their clear leader, calming presence on the floor, second leading rebounder and 8-10 points per game. All things she contributes would be huge against a team like Holmes. They also were missing Jansen, another ball handler off the bench. And Barth played that game two days removed from breaking her nose. Again, not excuses, but they could have have a huge effect on that game. They also had leads in the middle of the third qtrs against Male and Mercy and then it got away from them late in both games. Both games were in a stretch that they were not playing very well. They were tending to play unfocused and with not much energy. They have started to finally turn the corner on those things and will contend in the post season.

Highlands came back because SK either missed shots or had turnovers it was a 3 or 4 minute strech.

Other thread stated best player on the floor was #15 HHS.. Couldn't disagree more. She was ONE of the best players on the floor. No disagreement with her performance being one of the better performers just don't believe she was the Best alone!!!!! I believe the Neace performance equaled hers and the final shot solidified her as one of the Best performers of the night. Also great credit has been extended to HHS come back performance. No issue there either however not much credit being thrown to SK's performance in getting such a commanding lead in the first place....That is ok the best to each team in their pursuit of District and Regional Championships in the 9th and 8th .

Clyde, I apologize for the long response. I just want to be clear and do my best to not be misunderstood by other folks who read this. :thumb:

I respectfully disagree, but please hear me out. Yes I watched it over and over. Specifically, I watched Ally's feet and her dribble. I watched the net. I watched the fans. I watched Coach Richey. Every time I viewed it, I focused on specific different things that had been already mentioned, questioned or brought up in this thread. Things such as, did it go in (I think RCC9 was still in shock on this one lol), was there a push off, what was coach Richey looking for when pointing to the floor, and as Jesse James suggested, maybe Highlands bench and fans thought she walked.

After viewing her feet and the ball carefully - no there was not a walk. After viewing it carefully watching Ally's extended arm, at first I would have agreed with you, but when I viewed it again and watched Adler's (#10) right shoulder and upper body ONLY, then yes, I do believe I see a bit of a push off. I see Adler's right shoulder go back and her upper body twist just a bit the exact moment Niece's arm is extended into Adler's right upper body.

Here is where I need to be very clear (perhaps more for other readers). I did not and I am not saying that it was a foul. First of all, I don't really know if it was enough to constitute a foul. Secondly, I already stated that I understand it not being called in that situation and place on the floor. Third, I am not even 100 percent sure of the specific rules on a "push off" by an offensive player. Fourth, because of 1-3, there is no way I am taking anything away from a player that made an incredible play. Ally has been blessed with an upper body strength that makes these type of plays possible. Fifth, SK senior Abby Jones and her family, are friends of mine and honestly, I was elated for Abby to have a Senior night memory like that.

I took your post correctly.

We just disgree on the push off. No harm.

Looking at the two tapes out there on youtube and I noticed in both there was a reach in (possible foul worthy) from the other player to the center of the court. I couldn't make out her number. She reaches in significantly across Neaces body to interfere with the dribble PRIOR to the possible extended arm and question of potential push off of Neace. The HHS coaches can be seen coaching keep arms up and they had been yelling the whole 4th quarter Do not foul Neace. Assuming that is what they were telling them at this moment would go along with the Adler girls upper body twisting and turning away from Neace to avoid the possibility of a foul on the shot while still maintaining her position between the basket and Neace? Thoughts???

are we really arguing about if a girl got fouled and/or committed a foul herself on a 3/4 court shot?

Not arguing just discussing different takes from the videos out there . Not taking anything away from the 3/4 court shot . I for one can only DREAm about making such a shot even at my age !! lol... I actually like the fact the officials let the players decide the outcome rather than them!!

The other Highlands player I believe was McKenzie Leigh, 31. I did notice that she appears to have been close to a "reach in" before the shot, but the video is just so unclear on that due to being on the other side of Niece's body. From what I can see, it was not "foul worthy".

I am assuming that SK was in the bonus or double bonus. If so, then they certainly would not want to foul in a tie ball game. That being said, then yes, it is possible that Adler's "twisting" at that moment was her own attempt to not foul. Happened so fast and even on film, it is hard to discern for sure what caused Adler's movement. My first thought when I paid attention to her shoulders was a slight push, however, no way one could say for sure.
