RCC9, you talk about how discipline HHS is and how well they play defense and that they don't reach when they trap. It sounds to me as if by what you are saying that they shouldn't lose a game, I know you truly don't mean that but if they are that good on defense why was SK up by 20, defense wins games and there loses come against good teams, it seems to me they can't beat good teams consistently. I get injuries, not having a gym for a certain amount of time but at this stage of the year none of that should even factor in. This is just my observation.

With that defense then they should make a very good run at the regional for sure.

Wasn't at the game. And they may have easily blown them out. But they didn't. Any team that is susceptible to giving up a 17 point lead in the 4th Qtr (regardless of the situation) is very vulnerable. What if HHS would have pressed the entire game the way they did in the 4th? Again, HHS would most likely play different too.

 

And this conversation started with someone saying the 9th is down. My question was...which region is down???

 

And did you look at the other scores of like opponents. I know we can do this all day. But don't act like SK is on another level. That's just silly. If you took the names off the schedules and I showed you the results, you'd say they are pretty darn close. Only difference is one school has two losses on their schedule they wish they could get back.

 

Make your case as to why you think they aren't on the same level. I'd like to hear it. I make my own judgments on teams. SK is very good, but not a different level.

They had bad passes and forced shots. A easy fix. I hope Highlands wins the 9th so Sk can gets a chance to beat them again.

Girls games are all about match ups I was told the pressure applied by HHS making the SK pg pass the ball and have others make plays is where the game turned. I could see a pressing team giving SK problems, good for SK there are none in the 8th. SK should win the 8th again, I would think easy. You could not say that if they were in the 9th. I think if you trade Ryle Holmes Highlands ND and Holy Crosss they would all win the 8th just like SK.

Actually they welcome teams to press them it actually plays in our favor. Difference is SK coaches aren't In The business of trying to destroy teams. The coaches actually work on developing their bench and working on game scenarios. Not trying to be holier than thou so don't take it that way. The games where you are pointing out similar scores. SK did not keep the throttle down but rather chose to play their bench for multitude of reasons I'm sure. In several comebacks by teams that made the score look decent it was often against 2 8th graders a freshmen one or 2 freshmen and a few sophomores. Great development and experience for players that may now be called upon in the post season.

I understand all the rootin and tootin over who thinks their region is the best. That's cool, but lets not exaggerate.

 

Anderson County, Shelby County, and Walton Verona are solid ball teams....

 

Anderson County beat Holmes this year and played common opponents closer than Highlands did. Walton was tied at SK with 33 second left until a controversial intentional foul was called against Walton. And Shelby County is right there with them.

Sure. They all had seniors that graduated and moved on, just like every school. So others lost kids too, essentially not as good as the year before. Comparing year to year will never work in high school athletics. If HHS was heathy all year, we wouldn't be having this conversation. But they weren't. But they are now!
