So I'm at work and I catch outside the lines talking about a high school girls coach setting up a play to deliberately injury an opposing teams star player according to the coaches players. Not sure what schools or state this happened in

Just read the article. Guy needs to be fired, if not banned in the state period. Sounds like a case for assault could be made but doubt it would go anywhere if he has the district's backing. Just disgusting. He admitted to designing a play that was run multiple times that would result in her getting hit with a hard-thrown ball somewhere on her body. That's just outright over the top dirty.

At the very least, if these players are willing to go on the record, this coach should be banned everywhere from coaching. Never be allowed to be near sports period and definitely not be a teacher. If proof shows, this is intent to assault and be prosecuted. May not lead to anything but at least it's on the record and might deter another coach from instigating such criminal behavior.

I saw the show and said coach should have been fired immediately and possible criminal charges filed against him. I am the most competitive person you could ever meet but would never teach my players to intentionally hurt an opposing player. If I was the parent of the player he wanted his kids to hurt, him and I would be face to face and shortly after he would be on his way to the hospital.

Video in the link didnt work for me, but how is this different than when players throw the ball at someone when trying to save an out of bounds play?

Stand 2-3 in front of inbounds passer and have them throw the ball off your nose. That is how it is different.

You will understand when you see the video. It is deliberate ball to the face from about 3 feet away.

Any coach who tells their player(s) to do this should lose their job. Period. That's classless and the coach is scum. Never should an adult tell a kid to injure another kid in a game in an attempt to win.

Maybe so, but like I said before is it where they were hit or the act itself. Players throw the ball at an opposing player on out of bounds plays all game long.

To me it is where the ball is thrown. If you are trying to have the defender knock it out of bounds, throw it below the knees. Teammates of the inbounder said the coach had made reference to throwing the ball at the nose. And the girl that was supposed to inbound it would not do it so she gave it to another teammate. The coach also pointed to his nose right before the ref was to hand the ball to the inbounding player.

When a player is going for a lose ball out of bounds they throw it at the legs/foot area...

In this case, the coach (what I heard today) took his finger and pointed it at his nose, the very next thing happened the player on the inbounds pass deliberatley threw the ball at the opposing girl's face, breaking her nose...He needs to be banned for any sport activity period.
