Maybe so, but like I said before is it where they were hit or the act itself. Players throw the ball at an opposing player on out of bounds plays all game long.

 

The issue to me is that it was a designed play enacted multiple times under instruction from the coach. The intent completely changes with that premeditation.

You will understand when you see the video. It is deliberate ball to the face from about 3 feet away.

 

Not like the girl was even close to a 5 count. Flat out wrong!

What about the player? Does she need to be punished as well (assuming she did not graduate).

I believe a civil suit had been filed in the case and the coach received a suspension. Not sure that it was good enough. If the player had acted alone I'd be in favor of a long suspension/ban as well. One girl refused to inbound the ball and another went to inbound it, willing to follow the coaches orders.

 

As a parent, I'd be distraught if one of my kids agreed to follow such an order. If one were on the receiving end, that guy would have a whole lot of explaining to do once he found his teeth.

One of his players has said the coach told them several times in the huddle on a timeout that he wanted the player inbounding the ball to hit the opposing center directly on the nose with the pass. So the girl who was suppose to take the ball out had told her she couldn't do it. She said she looked over at the bench and he told her to take it out and she said the coach pointed at his nose when she looked at him. So she did what he said, threw the ball directly into the defenders face.

If that's true this guy should be banned from coaching the rest of his life and also criminally charged.
