I think Beechwood and Holy Cross voting Covcath #1 had more to do with them wanting no part of the Colonels than wanting no part of facing Holmes. Just my opinion, of course.

 

I do think Holmes would beat Holy Cross or Beechwood in a rematch, however.

When was the last time Beechwood hosted the district tournament on campus? In the past, I know Beechwood (and I think Holy Cross) have used Holmes' gym.

Nothing was set in stone, it was a fluid situation and all parties were involved in doing what was best for the host school. Home court advantage. However it was resolved, was what was best for Beechwood. And no I'm not a parent or employed by the school system.

If it was point differential, CCH would be the #1 because of the large margin of victory over Beechwood

Hate when teams get to rank each other to determine seeds. My school was on the bad end of that deal in 2004, because teams don't rank teams based on what they have done. They are ranking teams based on who they would like to try to play against.

 

Which based on the system that is in place the Holy Cross and Beechwood coaches did exactly what they should have to give their teams the best chance to get out of district. By voting CovCath first it allowed both teams a chance for the first time in forever to make the districts without having to beat Holmes or CovCath. Very smart and correct move by them. I just hate the process and think it should be a blind draw at this point.

IMO: most ridiculous way to break a three way tie. Best option is to do a blind draw or point differential.

 

It is hard to believe that CCH would rather play a Holmes team that they had to come back late in the 4th quarter to beat than to play a Beechwood team they recently smoked by like 30 or a HC team which isn't playing their best ball because their best player is still trying to recover from a injury.

 

As ABBPlayer said, it is basically more about Beechwood & HC wanting to dodge Holmes and CovCath for a easier chance to get to the regional.

If I am HC, then yes, I vote my team number 1. I beat CCH and I would vote my team number 1. If the rolls were reversed, you think Coach R and CCH would have voted HC number 1, NO WAY!

Maybe you are correct. But you have to admit, take 100 9th Region fans that know the game and if they put all biases aside, an overwhelming majority would rat Covcath #1 in the District. When the right decision is made, is it necessary to trash and burn HC and BW? Just lose your cred when the right decision is obvious.

I agree with oldercoach......the eye test says that CCH is better than the other 2 schools. You might disagree with how they got to the seedings, but the teams are seeded correctly 1 - 3. And Holmes is 4th because they are 0 - 3 in district play.

I think Holmes will come in with a chip on their shoulder, and when you have a younger team, like CCH, in a game that they are supposed to win, it could get interesting. BW will probably have some confidence, but asking them to beat HC 2x in less than 2 weeks is a lot to ask. But, this is the best chance for HC & BW to make a regional.

Holmes could be a major spoiler.....knocking off the #1 team in the state in 1st round of Districts. If I am CovCath I am preparing to build a fence around McClendon.
