I liked the old Lincoln County helmet. White, with the old New England Patriot logo on both sides (Pat Patriot!)

Loved those helmets for New England back in the late 70-s early 80's....why did they change them????

Not sure why New England changed, but Lincoln went to a block "L" on the sides in either the late 80s or early 90s. Had the same helmets (with some minor adaptations to the L) for several years now.

I was referring to Lincoln co...not a big fan of simple letters on helmets. A little creativity is what I like....

My favorite helmet at JC was the Black helmets the 97' team wore. They had a screaming eagle on them which was white, black, and gold. I also liked the helmets the 2000 team wore which was a gold helmet that had black wings which looked just like the Philadelphia Eagles helmets, only different colors.

Somerset (love the gold and purple color scheme)

North Laurel (when they had the Bama style white numbers on blue helmet)

Corbin (some styles never go out of style)

Danville (a true classic)

I really do like Belfry's decals as well. Something about that pirate.

With all due respect to gryche, Raider Bird and Mean Bird, I like the block H on Highlands' helmet better. It simple, classy and all business. Nothing cutesy to it. Don't get me wrong: I love the mean bird emblem, just not on the helmet. I believe the mean bird emblem is on the shoulder area of the jerseys. If you want to go a little old school, do you guys remember when they used to have the blue swallow on the helmets? Never liked those at all.

I like all of your list plus Highlands.

I don't remember Lincoln County ever having a Patriot like New England's on the helmet. They had that on some jackets and shirts when the school first opened but never on football helmets.

From 1974-1983, LC had the player's number on each side of the helmet like the University of Alabama. The helmets were blue and the numbers were white.

From 1984-1986, LC had a design (kind of a swoosh) that said "Pats" in it on side of white helmets. BTW, during that time, the player of the game from the previous week would wear a helmet painted red....talk about a marked man.

From 1987-recently, LC had the block L on the helmets. Recently, they went to a different font L that resembles the University of Louisville.

Wasn't there a site out there a few years ago that had all the helmets in Kentucky listed?

If not there should be one. If you go to Google and type in "high school football helmet project" you'll find a bunch of states where people have listed the helmet designs. It's pretty neat to look at the designs from other states.

Scott Eagles have moved from there traditional silver helmets to blue ones. They look so much better.

Ironton Ohio ... the whole deal .. Helmet , uniform . Tiger Clan , Million Dollar Band ,Tank -Home side only ... Visitor side stinks ...

Maybe I was wrong. I was thinking that Lincoln had the New England Patriot in the mid-1980s. I was pretty young then; I might be confusing them with shirts or something else!

The worst Highlands logo was the wing with the "H" from the early 80's.

I read where the head coach, Bill Herrmann, said the kids voted to replace the mean bird with this. I don't remember this vote.....
