Jaggers would be a great fit at Marion. The thing Marion has to do is get their Middle School producing some football players. They did not field a team this year at Lebanon Middle in which in my opinion would rival athletes at Mercer and Danville. In addition, former Danville Asst is an Assistant Principal at Lebanon Middle, and worked with Josh's dad at Danville. This will never be an easy position, because the Superintendent does not live there. My opinion is that if there is no personal investment made in the community then you just go home at night and no one cares, and Lebanon is a community that has always loved sports. This dedication and skin in the game must come from the top. At this time they do not have it. That being said Josh would be a great hire.

Marion County would be very fortunate to have Josh Jaggers. He had some good players his first year and beat some very good teams. Then he had to deal with a talent slide and chose to go young knowing it would be rough but the future would be brighter. Unfortunately, he didn't get the chance to see it through but LaRue 'should' see the benefits from that decision over the course of the next two seasons.

 

Jaggers' wife is from Marion and he would be willing to establish roots and relationships (youth, MS, players, community) needed to build that program. The tough decisions that he made at LaRue show that he is willing to build a program for the long term. All of that should appeal greatly to the powers that be in Lebanon.

Josh Jaggers would be a great choice for Marion County. He would do a very good job there.

Josh Jagger's was supposedly supposed to have been the head man at Webster County last year and something happened and he didn't get the job I know when Mike Whitaker left there Jagger's was the first person he reached out to in terms of taking the job

Jaggers was 10-24 the last 4 years at Larue Co. Want to win , hire the best guy. Make football a priority.

 

He wasn't the coach there last season. He was fired for some dude with college football coaching experience and Larue County managed to be worse with the new more experienced coach. Add in the fact that the new coach inherited freshmen and sophomore starters forced to play during Jaggers last two seasons at Larue County and I can't help but wonder what the hell Larue County was going when they fired Jaggers.

 

If Marion County wants Jaggers and Jaggers wants Marion County then I hope it gets done. They could both use each other.

They reached out and he didn't take it. That job came open in mid July.

Seems like a lot of schools get that thinking they are college football programs were they are going to get flooded with quality applicants.

Regardless of who gets the job they are going to have to give the guy time. They were 0-10 last season. Only 2 teams scored fewer points in 4A and only 1 team gave up more points.

 

And if it's true what they above poster said about Lebanon Middle not fielding a football team, then it's a lot of problems over there.

 

Commander I agree a lot of schools feel like they need to just get rid of a coach, not knowing who will apply for the job. Then more cases than not they are stuck with a different coach with pretty much the same resume at a similar school as the coach they fire.

 

As for Larue I wouldn't judge Hatmaker on this first year. They did show some improvements as they scored basically the same amount of points, but gave up about 100 less. So maybe in the next couple years that could translate into some wins. Who knows maybe Jaggers would have had the same or more success will never know. I'm sure if he wants he will get a job real soon, considering his name seems to be mentioned for every open job.

I have never judged a coach by his first year. You need time to put your whole system in and an off season to get to know your players. Expecially if you was not on the staff before you got the head coaching job .

I agree. I think for whomever gets it, especially looking at what Marion lost and what those on their schedule return, next year is going to be a definite grind.

 

Marion graduated three of 5 offensive linemen, all four DL, their leading rusher in Epps, LB/FB Buckman...and, another one...35; can't remember his name off the top of my head. They also graduated two guys in the secondary.

-Washington County returns almost all, if not all of their skill players?

 

- Taylor returns their QB and leading rusher.

-Mercer graduated their QB Drew Davis, but returns a very solid and talented junior class (seniors to be).

-E-town graduated the house, but while they will be low on experience, they return a very skilled Junior class to be.

 

- Bardstown? The last time they didn't have speed out the Ying yang was, well, never. They are mostly all back for next year.

 

A quick fix, nor any resemblance of that, this Marion County job is not. But, for some...that's what makes it fun.

No. They also have St. Charles MS out in the county and a K-8 private Catholic school, St. Augustine. St. A doesn't have its own team, but I THINK those boys can play for LEB or St. Charles.
