Just as 10th Region tournament, I think POY is wide open and probably best decided when we see who is going to Rupp. Still got two weeks of regular season, Districts and Regionals. There are 5-7 players that are in the running and anyone of them could distinguish themselves in the next three weeks over the rest. Wilson and A. Crawford are probably narrowly leading J. Crawford, Fuller, Ohmer, Maddox and Williams today. A strong case could be made for each, but anything less than a deep tournament run would be a factor for consideration in paring the list. Especially hard for POY to come from an underperforming Dec/Jan team that doesn't have an awesome Feb/March.

Coaches vote I believe..... No real criteria I'm aware of

 

Do we have a clear answer on is this a senior only award ? Has there ever been a Junior that's ever won this award?? Is its senior only, is think Wilson or pig, but if this award is open to any age, grade etc. I'll agree with it being much as the District and regional tournament "wide open"

Senior only award or not I would give it to Wilson. If you were picking a team out of the 10th region players in a draft, I would pick Wilson first, and I think most people would. What he brings is less common than the Ohmer and Crawford types. Senior or not, hers my list -

He deserves as much consideration as anyone else mentioned in this thread IMHO. If there was a most "transformed award" he'd win that hands down. As Quagmire stated he went from being a three point shooter (and maker) to a great all around basketball player who plays all facets of the game......

Maddox is a warrior in every sense of the word. Makes you proud to watch the game he has worked so hard to develope! Expect to see real BGPers in the Den Saturday night.

There is an award - The KABC 10th Region Player of the Year.

 

If that is what we are discussing it is a senior only award.

This is voted upon by member (Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches) coaches. You cannot vote for a player from your program.

 

It has no criteria.

 

Jacob Rieger - Brossart '10 won this prestigious award his senior year.

It comes with an automatic tryout for the Kentucky All-Star team.

 

It is a special honor in that the KABC Region POYs from each region are introduced along with the KABC Coaches of the Year, between games at the state tournament.
