Refereeing in the high school and college ranks has been atrocious since they went to 3 officials. Tonight's UK vs Kansas game is a perfect example. Just horrible officiating all over.

The double foul on Ohmer was very questionable. It looked like a block to me and the basket should have counted. The game turned when Ohmer fouled out and got the T.

My question , again, is how should the time read when two officials make a call?

Someone has to take "charge".

Imo, the guy behind the baseline in tonight's game had the best view. He had clear line of sight on both players. He had the block

The official with the charge call was looking at Ohmers back.

Again, it's impossible for it to be both. The Blarge is just a bailout call for the officials. The ones I know and talk to often admit it

Wondering why your not

It was a silly foul on his part knowing he had 4. I have no issues with that call.

My problem is the T. The official was looking for it from 60+ feet away.

There was a jump ball call & a player tonight said to an official 3-5 feet from him "that's horrible" & ran away from official with ball.

Where's the T there?

Sorry, but that player is really pushing the envelope for a T, didn't see it don't know. But in a game the Coach must keep his head when everyone around him is losing theirs. That whole series was very costly. It was called tight all night. It's been like that for a lot of games this week. I don't know if KHSAA said to get control of games because of fights and bad behavior. But it may very well be called like that at tournament time. And you must stress to your players, the officials are always right. It's a strange solution but for now, that's the call.

I think they depend on the replay too much to make the call. KY and Kansas game was pretty bad, but players have no say in the matter. The official is always right. Believe me I've yelled at my share of officials but that was not good on my part either.

Why are we arguing over it? Obviously it was poor officiating and you had to be at the game at an un-bias view to see it. This is Scott fans vs. Campbell fans at the moment. Scott clearly had momentum. Scott was clearly undersized and their two "bigs" we're beating Wilson to his spot all night, maybe except for 2 times they called Wilson on the contact (which he initiated every time). Refs were eager to call Ohmer on his fouls once he was getting bullied by the other team and fans, called two to three touch calls towards the heat of the game which he blew up and got the T. Although, did see a couple of CC players talk to the refs the same way some Scott players did and had no call. I'm not even going to get on the topic of the Blarge call as you say it, poor and I mean poor call, would have given Scott momentum, game changed from that point on. Ohmet wasn't given his and-1 and picked up his 3rd foul I believe. Anywho. Campbell did well with the adversity. Scott couldn't seem to adjust late in the game. Also missing key free throws within 3 minutes. Scott will learn, hope to see a rematch come district time.

What about Brad Carr standing up and yelling at officials after getting a technical (he did this several times throughout the game). I thought you had to stay seated after a T...and if you stood up and yelled at officials it would be another T and an ejection. Have the rules changed, or did the officials not have the guts to call another T on coach Carr?

IMO: T on Coach Carr was weak and I didn't see what Ohmer did to earn the T but it was 60 feet away so I'll call that one weak as well. The camel player that ran away with ball that some are saying should of been T'd up, good call. That official quickly put his whistle in his mouth and gave him the "look" and the player stopped and gave the ball to another official. My point is this, officials have to realize it's a district/rivalry game and not let it get out of hand. The players/coaches have to adjust to the way the officials are calling the game. Camels had 3 starters on the bench in the 1st half with 3 fouls. Scott had 3 kids in foul trouble. I saw 2 teams busting their hump and getting after it and many of them didn't adjust to the way the game was being called. One that stood out to me was Matt Wilson. He got beat on all night slapped, elbow in the lower back, shirt pulled but he never lost his cool. Coach Carr got T'd up and adjusted. I was upset because I didn't get to see him work the sidelines like a caged Lion. Coach Carrs teams are going to play hard, physical and strong. Coach Russell made adjustments with kids in foul trouble because the Camels aren't very deep. Some unfair cheap shots have been takin at Aric on here. Guy can flat out coach and is an outstanding role model to those kids. Should be real interesting if they meet again in districts.

IMO the T on Coach Carr seemed pretty quick but don't know what was said. I think the Ohmer T was a result of some of the jawing going on. Saw the referee pull him aside after a foul and made basket after he had words with the defender. The kid is a great player and doesn't need to talk smack and play that game. I've seen other posts about this in the past; perhaps refs start "looking" for things from 60ft away.

didn't see it don't know

Then how can you comment on this? You have no perspective of the game or the situation the technical was called.

The ref that called the foul, did not call the T.

The ref that called the T had to be looking for it, as stated he was 60+ feet from where Ohmer was at the time of the T.

Because nothing is said to him?

So he said something to the ref 60+ feet away to get the T?

First: He was 60 ft away

Second: You drop "the bomb" you get the fallout…no questions, every time

Always?

It can't be both. You know that as well as anyone

Simultaneous whistle…. while you shouldn't have a "mechanical" confluence, it happens. The result is by the book.

It in fact can be both as a simultaneous occurrence. The slot had the drive, the confluence creates the confusion..one should hold, the other should take…

This happens a lot when a coach didn't really earn the T. Have seen it several times this year in 8, 9, & 10 region.

Ref compounds bad call with a T. They'll give coach leeway in allowing him to stand for the majority of the time.

Also see a few coaches earn the T & be reminded to stay seated

Rules haven't changed…if you notice the finer points of the game, Carr only stood and moved down his bench to substitute or during dead ball to substitute. He was reminded of the seat belt rule and complied, only up when he was subbing.

A towel is a bomb? Interesting

If you're implying the F-bomb, I was way closer to Ohmer than the official who called the T & didn't hear it.
