Favorite Miniseries

In addition to the already mentioned Band of Brothers and Lonesome Dove I would add Salem's Lot, Chiefs and The Pacific.

1. Centennial. Robert Conrad played an intriguing character in that one. Clay Basket was beautiful. And Detroit Lions great, Alex Karras, played a German immigrant who was a tough old bird. Lots of stars scattered throughout the cast. They actually filmed part of that not far from where I grew up. I even had opportunity to watch some of the filming.

2. The Holocaust. It made quite an impact on me. I was just a teenager.

Both of these miniseries were in 1978.

Centennial was the first one to pop into my head. Really enjoyed it.

Of the ones mentioned I really like Band of Brothers and Lonesome Dove. However, Planet Earth gets my vote rather easily. The best nature footage ever.

I love Planet Earth!!!

Are you referring to Augusta? It wasn't until just a month or so ago that I found out that they had filmed certain portions of it there. I think it was some of the scenes that were supposed to be based in old St. Louis.

Nope. I lived in a different state then.

1. Band o Brothers

2. Pacific

3. Shogun ( going back a ways )

Of course Band of Brothers and Roots, Pacific wasn't quite as good as Band of Brothers but still good, I think because it didn't follow one group but several different storylines. I'd add V, it started as a mini series in the 80's, then became a series and ran a couple seasons, then came back a few years ago in a reboot for a couple of seasons.

What is the BBC version of Sherlock Holmes show called ? If that counts it's either that or Band of Brothers.

Wow, forgot about that one. I think my mom watched that one, but I can't recall much about it. Seems like there was a time where Richard Chamberlain was the king of the miniseries. He was in Centennial, The Thorn Birds and Shogun, wasn't he? That's three of them in what, 5 or 6 years?
